Crash kills two

Hodgins, Lucan detachment, were in charge
of the investigation of the car-train crash
which claimed the lives of a young Exeter
couple on the Brinsley Road, Thursday morn-
ing. The two officers are shown as they look
over the wrecked car which was virtually
Welded to the front of the train and carried
1,000 feet down the track. The northbound
train is shown in the background. Killed in
the crash were Mr. and Mrs. Gary IVIcLaugh-
lan, who were married last June. They were

2 pm Saturday, Sept, 23 in St,
Andrew's Presbyterian Church,
Belleville, when Judith Margaret
Ingram and William M. Symons
exchanged marriage vows and
rings with the Rev. A. Laurie
Sutherland officiating.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr, and Mrs, A. J. Ingrara of
Belleville and the groom of the
OPP Lucan, is the son of Mrs.
Fred Symons and the late Mr,
symonds.
Given in marriage by her fath-
er, the bride chose a floor-
length gown of white crinkle crepe
featuring three-quarter sleeves
and a wedding-ring collar. The
full back and skirt cascaded to
a chapel train. A gardenia and a
cluster of tear drops, held her
two-tier silk illusion veil. She
carried a cascade of gold and
yellow mums, centred with gold
roses.
Miss Shirley Mann, of Bloom-
field, as maid of honor and Miss-
es Valerie Bird of Belleville,
Mary Ellen Van Dusen of Tor-
onto and Janis and Wendy Storey
of London, as bridesmaids, were
gowned alike in floor-length gold
and brown empire style dresses,
with brown velvet bodice and
gold A-line skirts with match-
ing coat. They carried crescent
shaped cascades of gold and yel-
low mums centred with gold
roses.
Four-year-old Sherri Ander-
son, dressed similarly to the
other attendants made a charm-
ing little flower girl. Five-year-
old David Anderson, in his dress
suit, made an equally attrac-
tive little ring-bearer.
Mr. Fred Smith of Belleville
was best 'man and Messrs. Jim
Ingram, Bob Ladoucier and Geo-
rge Allison were ushers.
The church organist provided
traditional wedding music.

The Lucan-Clandeboye CGIT
met Tuesday evening, Oct. 1'7
in the CE Building. A craft
"Teki" gods pendants, was com-
menced by all groups.
During this period the new
members were "adopted" by pre-
vious members and told what to
wear to the initiation party Oc-
tober 30. This will be a boxed
lunch supper party with Hallow-
e'en games, commencing at 5pm
to 8;30.
The initiation ceremony and
the ceremony for Senior girls,
will be conducted at the next
regular meeting November 7.
Worship on the theme of
"Thanksgiving" was conducted
by Bonnie Brooks and Nancy
Young, and Bible study was con-
tinued in the three groups.
Mrs. George Lewis of Ailsa
Craig, the District President,
spoke on "Customs et the Time
of Confederation" and was pre-
sented with a pin by Mrs. Ron
Crozier, at the close of her talk.
Poems were read by Miss Lina
Abbott and Mrs. Crozier followed
by a menu contest in charge of
Mrs. Guy Ryan.
It was decided to try holding
meeting in the homes. Mrs. Er-
win Scott offered her home for
the November meeting and Mrs.
Ron Crozier offered hers for the
December meeting.
Lucan WI met in the Commun-
ity Centre Thursday afternoon
with the executive in charge of the
program, Roll call was answered
by naming an unwise purchase
made during the year. The motto
for the meeting was, "Nothing
is ever achieved without en-
thusiasm."
The meeting began with a cen-
tennial pot luck luncheon at 1 pm.
During the business session
Mrs. Jim Lockyer and Mrs. Alex
young were named delegates to
the London Area Convention Nov.
7 and 8.
Arrangements for a trip to
the Jack Miner Sanctuary were
shelved until Spring. A letter
from Strathmere Lodge solicit-
ing help in the purchase of an
organ was read.
Mrs. Owen Seward consented
to act as Lucan's Safety Repre-
sentative. It was decided to again

branch's orphan and to raise
funds by a bake sale or euchre.
Mrs. Alex Young read an ar-
ticle written by Mrs Jennie Ray-
craft Lewis in 1950, on the Lon-
don-Goderich Road.

Sisters unite
at Expo '67
It is not often, that four sist-
ers and their husbands can ar-
range a five-day holiday at the
same time, but the four daugh-
ters of the late Mr. and Mrs.
Wilbert Revington, did just that.
Mr. and Mrs. John Park, Mr.
and Mrs. Jack Lankin of Lucan,
Mr. and Mrs. Art McLean of Lon-
don and Dr, and Mrs. L. W. Lob-
singer of Sarnia, have returned
from a family reunion held at
Expo. Mr. Jackie Park, son of
Mr. and Mrs. John Park of Arva
accompanied the group as one of
the drivers.
One of the family knew a Mont-
real builder, whose new apart-
ment house was nearing comple-
tion. Beds were set up for the
party in this building so the family
were together for five hilarious
days and nights.

Boys' Brigade

The Lucan Boys' Brigade is
an inter-denominational club, or-
ganized about a month ago. I,
Bruce Currie am the present
leader, with Sterling Gardner as
assistant. Serving as secretary
is Danny Stuckless and treasurer
is Tom Hearn.
In the most recent meeting,
which was held Oct. 20, we ap-
proved a crest for our brigade,
The crest consists of a five
pointed star on a green back-
ground with the "Lucan Boys
Brigade" printed in red. For
uniforms we are using discarded
Air Force tunics and Army jack-
ets. At the present time we
have 11 members which are
meeting in my parents' basement
until completion of our club house.
We are having a contest now for
the most interesting item or
drawing made. The results of this
contest will give points towards
the craftsman badge for every-
one,

at last Monday's Lion Club meet-
ing in the Anglican Church base-
ment, with Lion Grant Graham,
winning the door prize.
Lion Harold Butler reported
on next Friday night's draw. Two
more meetings will be held this
week in Clare Stanley's basement
to finalize plans for the draw and
the smorgasbord which will fol-
low. Lion Gordon Brooks on be-
half of his company, said he would
donate serviettes and plastic cut-
lery.
It was reported a roller for
the town park, formerly owned
by the Granton Bowling Green,
had been purchased from Lion
Harold Butler.
The Lions will again sponsor
House League hockey. Registra-
tion for the same will be held
Saturdays Nov. 4 and 11.

At an executive meeting held at
the home of the president, Oct. 9,
it was decided to hold the annual
turkey bingo at the Legion Hall,
Dec. 6.

to aid UNICEF
Mrs. Charles Coughlin led in
games at the Lucan-Clandeboye's
4th Expedition last Monday even-
ing. A story about the United
Nations called "A House is Built"
and a discussionon UNICEF were
taken by Mrs. William Froats.
Explorers will collect for UNI-
CEF.
Red Star Group of nine girls
and two counsellors studied the
Explorer Prayer and posted ar-
zicies in their book.
In the title Star group, Mrs.
Clarence Haskett was guest lead-
er on expedition "Citieens Serve
their Community". Bible verses
were read and two Wits for the
bale were completed.

ton) passed away in St. Mary's
Hospital, London, Friday, Oct.
