Mrs, Lamond spoke of the life
of the late Peter Marshall, his
lonely home life after his father's'
death, his emigration to Canada
and the "tap on the shoulder"
which led him into the ministry.

The first fall meeting of the
Happy Doubles Club was held
last Wednesday evening in the
church basement which was
decorated for Halloween, Bill
Rohde was chairman for the pro-
gram. Ray Cann gave the Call
to Worship on Thanksgiving. Mrs.
Ray Cann and Mrs. Bill Rohde
gave readings.
Rev. Stewart and Mrs. Miner
conducted Bible Study. "What is
a Canadian" was given by Mrs.
Rohde. Mrs. Cann favored with
a piano solo.
Games and contests were en-
joyed. Lunch was served by the
committee in charge, Mr. and
Mrs. Ray Cann and Mr. and Mrs.
Bill Rohde.

Mathers of Blyth, "It is a fact
that Christian Education has not
kept abreast with secular edu-
cation" he said.
He said "In 1925 there were
579,482 in the United Church
Sunday Schools and in 1961. there
were 757,000, an increase of 30
per cent in 36 years but since
1961 attendance has been de-
creasing until now there are only
570,000. This is true in other
denominations as well. This must
be seen as something of genuine
significance yet there are three
times as many registered in mid-
week activities within the church
and summer camps have increas-
ed tremendously."

UCW to the Christian Education
committee of the church holds
an important liaison office—the
committee knows the need and
where most needed", he stated,

ich, reported on the needs of the
aged in Huron County. "A high
percentage of Huron population
are over 65" he stated "and
this causes problems."

held Open House on Sunday, Oc-
tober 22, in honor of Mrs. James
Wilson's eighty-fifth birthday.
Mrs. Wilson lives in Parkhill.
About eighty relatives and
friends called throughout the day.
Guests were present from Lon-
don, Exeter, Grand Bend, Alvin-
ston, Chatham, Kerwood, Wood-
ham and Parkhill.
SPEAKS ON HOME EC SCHOOL
The Grand Bend Women's In-
stitute met in the town hall Thurs-
day evening with Home Econom-
ics convener Mrs. Roy Morenz
in charge. The roll call was a
recipe and a dozen cookies to
be sold. Motto: "Your appear-
ance Talks', was given by Mrs.
R. Morenz.
The guest speaker, Miss Molly
McGhie, associate director of the
Centralia School of Home Econ-
omics was introduced and thanked
by Mrs. R. Morenz. She gave a
most interesting and informative
talk on the work and life of the
school,
Mrs. Nola Taylor, president,
presided for the business and
thanked all who helped on Wed-
nesday when the WI entertained
at the Huronview home. Mr. and
Mrs. Douglas Gill and Mr. W.
Gill and Mrs. Mabel DesJardine
provided the program.
Mrs. Ed Gill was appointed
delegate to the London AreaCon-
vention. Mrs. Wm Love gave a
report on the WI Rally at Cred-
iton. Mrs. Raymond Kading re-
ported the results of the Plough-
ing Match.
A display on handiwork proved
very interesting.
Lunch was served by Mrs. W.
Sturdevant, Mrs. L. Baker, Mrs.
Allan Miller and Mrs. Ed Gill.

church on Sunday morning, pre-
vious to moving to London the
McEwens were members of Rev.
Wilson's former church in North

Mr. and Mrs. Amos Smith
have returned to Mount Albert
following a week's visit with their
daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs, Ken Greb. The Grohs
motored home with them and
spent the weekend. They also
attended the Plowing Match in
Barrie.
Mr. and Mrs. S, Molnar were
weekend visitors with relatives
in Dundas and Sunday attended
the church service in Agincourt
during which the rite of baptism
was administered to their grand-
daughter, Nancy Molnar.
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Powe and
Allan were in Montreal last week
attending Expo.
Mr. and Mrs. Dawson Hayter
(newlyweds) have taken up resi-
dence in the village having
recently purchased the property
of Mr. and Mrs. Ken Greb. Mr.
and Mrs. Greb have been re-
siding for the past few months
in the home they purchased from
the estate of the late Mr. and
Mrs. Albert Smith.
Mr. W. Parks has taken up
residence in the home he pur-
chased from Mrs. Lassaline who
has moved to Goderich.

wedding music.
Given in marriage by her fath-
er the bride chose a floor-length
sheath of peau de soie with train
falling from the waist. The bodice
was highlighted with round neck-
line and lily point sleeves. A
headband of roses held her
shoulder-length veil. She car-
ried a white Bible crested with
orange roses and autumn leaves.
Mrs. Gerald Morley, Exeter,
was matron of honor wearing a
floor-length sheath of orange
crystal crepe with detachable
train. She carried bronze mums
with wheat and autumn leaves.
Stan Lovie, RR 3 Parkhill,
brother of the groom, was best
man and Gerald Morley, brother
of the bride, and Larry Lovie,
brother of the groom, ushered
guests.
The reception was held in the
church rooms where the bride's
