groom's mother chose a blue
brocade ensemble with pink rose
corsage.
For a wedding trip North to

pink brocade suit with matching
fur collar and blackaccessories.

Maid of honor was Miss Carol
Johnston, Zurich, clad in red
velvet in a floor-length gown and
she carried white mums with
trailing white ribbon. Brides-
maids, Miss Bonnie Clarke, sist-
er of the bride, and Mrs. Carl
Keller, sister of the groom, were
gowned similarly to the maid of
honor,
Gary Overholt, Centralia, was
best man and ushers were Donald
Clarke, Zurich and Bill Hirtzel,
Exeter, brother of the groom.
A reception was held in the
Crediton Community Centre
where the bride's mother re-
ceived guests in a royal blue
lace net over taffeta dress with
gold accessories and corsage of
yellow roses edged in gold, The
groom's mother assisted in a
cranberry silk brocade two-piece
dress with corsage of red roses
and white carnations,
For travelling to Niagara Falls
the bride changed to a navy blue
suit with pink accessories and
pink carnation corsage.
They will reside at 301Simcoe
St., London.
Mrs. Mary Fairfield of Cen-
tralia, formerly of Andrew St.
N., Exeter, has shared with us
a recipe for a home-made bis-
cuit mix which she uses suc-
cessfully and says it is a time
saver.
Mrs. Adrian Denomme, Zurich,
in a ceremony performed by Rev.
A. P. Jansen inOur Lady of Mount
Carmel church on Saturday, Oc-
tober 14 at 1 pm.
Mrs. Steven Meidinger played
the wedding music and accompa-
nied the soloist, Mrs. Louis
Ayette.
Given in marriage by herfath-
er and mother, Mr. and Mrs.
Jerome Deramirne, the bride
chose a floor-length gown fash-
ioned from Chantilly lace with
full skirt, fitted bodice and lily
point sleeves. Tiered pl eat ed
English netting accented the skirt
front. A floral cluster held a
double, chapel-length silk il-
lusion veil. She carried a.bouquet
of red roses and stephanotis
with ivy and long red velvet
ribbon and rosary intertwined.
Maid of honor was Miss Diane
Brisson, St. Thomas, wearing a
gold floor-length gown of peau
de sole with long train falling
from the shoulders. She carried
a hand cluster of bronze mums
with brown ribbon streamers.
Bridesmaids Misses Tony Den-
omme, Clinton, Donna Watson,
Zurich and Michelle Meyer, De-
troit, were gowned in green,
fashioned similarly to the maid
of honor and they carried yellow
mums with gold ribbon. Flower
girl, Judy Ducharme, was also
gowned in gold peau de sole and

changed marriage vows with
Peter Denomme, son of Mr. and

Combine 1 beaten egg and 1
cup of water; stir 2 tbl sugar
into 3 cups biscuit mix. Combine
liquid and dry ingredients, stir
until just moistened. Fill greas-
ed muffin tins about 3/4 full,
Bake at 425 degrees for about
20 minutes until muffins are
golden and test done. Makes 12
medium muffins.
HOME-MADE BISCUIT MIX
She ,suggests:
- Be sure mix ingredients are
fresh.
Measure ingredients accurate-
ly; combine thoroughly.
Store mix in tightly covered
container. Lard mixes require
refrigeration, Use any mix
within four to six weeks. For
longer storage, put in plastic
bag and keep in freezer. Mix
can be used straight from the
freezer or shortly after.
To measure mix always pile
lightly into cup and level off
with a spatula.

daughter of Mr. and Mrs, Robert
Franklin, RR 1 Port Rowan, and
Garry Murdock MacLeod, son of
Mrs. Rodney MacLeod, port
Dover, and formerly ofCredlton,
exchanged marriage vows in Port
Rowan Baptist Church, Saturday,
October 7 at 4 pm. Rev. Raymond
Brown officiated.
Given in marriage by her fath-
er the bride chose a sheath gown
of white satin de lustre with lace
applique and train falling from the
shoulders. A shoulder-length veil
of double sheer nylon was held by
a, crystal tiara. She carried a cas-
cade of white mums and orange
delight roses.
Miss Beverley McDowell was
maid of honor dressed in mint
green sheer over taffeta with lace
bodice and full length sheer train.
Misses Linda and Barbara Frank-
lin, sisters of the bride, were
bridesmaids dressed similarly to
the maid of honor. They all car-
ried bronze and yellow mums.
Another sister, Nancy Franklin
was flower girl dressed in light
green with mint green train.
Lewis MacLeod, was best man
for his brother and Donald Frank-
lin, brother of the bride, and
Ronald Grasdahl, Crediton, ush-
ered guests.
After the reception in the Port
Dover Legion Hall, the couple left
for a honeymoon at Expo. The
bride travelled in a deep blue
dress with matching jacket, black
accessories and white and pink
rose corsage.
Mr. and Mrs. MacLeod will
live in London. The groom was
Scout Leader at Crediton for
three years.
PANC AKES
Combine 1 beaten egg and 1 1/2
cups water (or more); stir in
2 cups biscuit mix until well
blended. Bake on lightly greased
griddle over medium heat. Makes
18 medium pancakes.

MASTER BISCUIT MIX
16 cups sifted all-purpose flour
2 cups instant dry milk powder
1/2 cup baking powder
tbl salt
4 tsp cream of tartar
3 1/2 cups shortening
Measure dry ingredients on
large piece of waxed paper or
into large clean paper bag. Sift
together 3 times. Put in large
bowl; cut in shortening wit h
pastry blender until size of small
peas. Store in tightly covered
containers. Label, date and at-
tach recipes. This makes about
22 cups mix.
STREUSEL COFFEE CAKE
Combine 2 cups biscuit mix
and 2/3 cup water, stirring just
until blended. Pat into greased
7 x 11 xl 1/2 inch pan. Combine
1/2 cup brown sugar, 2 tbl flour,
1 tp cinnamon, 2 tbl melted but-
ter and 1/2 cup chopped nuts or
coconut. Sprinkle over batter.
Bake at 400 degrees for 20 to
25 minutes until cake tests done.
Serve warm or cold.

14 at 2 pm.
Rev. Douglas Warren officiated
and Mrs. Roy Dykeman, Crediton
furnished the wedding music and
accompanied the soloists, Mrs.
Russell Lee and Mrs. Ross Math -
ers, Exeter, who sang The Wed-
ding Prayer and The Wedding
Hymn.
Given in marriage by herfath-
er the bride chose a floor-length
gown of white lagoda crepe with
overdress of fine net sprinkled
with seed pearls. Her headpiece
of pure silk illusion was caught
to a crown of tiny seed pearls.
She carried red roses and white
mums with trailing red velvet
ribbon.
BREAD STICKS
Combine 2 cups biscuit mix
and 1/2 cup water, stirring until
blended. Turn out on lightly flour-
ed board, Knead about 15 to 20
strokes. Divide into 24 equal
parts; roll each between hands
into pencil slim strips, about 8
inches long.
Melt 3 tbl butter in rimmed
10x 15 inch pan. Place bread
sticks in pan, rolling in the
melted butter to coat each one.
Bake at 425 degrees for about 12
minutes until golden. Makes 2
dozen.
If desired, sprinkle unbaked

VARIATION
For buttermilk biscuit mix,
use 2 tp soda and 6 tbl baking
powder in place of 1/2 cup bak-
ing powder. Substitute instant dry
butter milk (11 available) for in-

stir just to blend. Turn onto
lightly floured board; knead a
few times. Roll to 3/4-inch thick-
ness, Cut into circles or squares;
place on ungreased baking sheet.
Bake at 425 degrees for about
12 minutes or until golden. Makes
about 12 medium biscuits.

shard for some 29 years and
then moved to a farm at Granton
for thirteen years before moving
to Exeter in 1959 where they
now reside.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Rodd are
members of James St. Church,
Mrs. Rodd is a UCW life member.
They were both active members
of the choir for 50 years prior
to coming to Exeter,
They received many gifts,
cards, and congratulatory mes-
sages were received from Pre-
mier John Roberts and Hon. C,
S. MacNaughton on behalf of the
Provincial government.

Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Rodd, Huron
St., Exeter, celebrated their
golden wedding anniversary on
Tuesday, October 10 with a turkey
dinner for 45 guests in Woodham
United Church, catered to by the
UCW.
Following the dinner a short
program was enjoyed with Ross
Gunning of Toronto as M.C. In-
cluding brief remarks by Rev.
S. E. Lewis, solos by Mrs. Jack
Dinkins, musical selections by
Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Squire and
readings by Mrs. Ken Hodgins
and Mrs. James Miller.
Mr, and Mrs, Rodd, the former
Myrtle Squire were married at
the home of the bride's parents,
