Orange and white gladioli and
white candles formed the setting
in Crediton United Church on
Saturday. September 9 at 7 am
for the marriage of Miss Ruth
Ellen Hodge. daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. William Hodge, Credi-
ton and John Frederick
son of Mrs. Miller and the late
Anton Miller, RR 3 Exeter, with
Rev. Douglas Warren officiating.
Given in marriage by her fath-
er the bride wore a sheath dress
of lace over taffeta styled with
scalloped neckline, three-quart-
er lace sleeves and natural waist-
line. A rose headpiece held her
double-tier illusion veil. She car-
ride a bouquet of orange roses
and white miniature carnations

Matron of honor was Mrs.Ivan
Lealess, London, sister of the
bride and Mrs. Glen zapfe, also
of London, was bridesmaid, The
attendants were similarly dress-
ed in floor-length gowns of pastel
green crepe print topped with
matching jackets of nylon sheer.
Their headpieces were matching
rosettes with tiny veils and they
carried crescent bouquets of yel-
low mums, The flower girl, Lynn
E. Lealess, London, wore a
street-length dress topped with
a nylon sheer pinafore matching
the color of the attendants. She
carried a basket of yellow mums,
Marcel Sylvester, Kitchener,
was groomsman and Yvon Latu-
lippe, RR 1 Simcoe and Stephen
Lealess, London, ushered guests.
A reception was held at the
Imperial Hotel, Grand Bend,
where the bride's mother re-
ceived guests in a two-piece suit
of pale blue lace with white ac-
cessories and the groom's moth-
er chose a sheath dress of gold
lame with black accessories.
For travelling to Expo the
bride changed to a pale green
suit with black accessories and
corsage of yellow roses.
The couple will resid4 at Grand
Bend. The bride is a graduate of
Hamilton Teachers' College.

Andy Miller, RR 3 Exeter, was
best man for his brother and
Robert Bodge, cousin of the bride,
and Frank Miller, brother of the
groom ushered guests.
Mrs. Roy Dykeman, Credi-
ton, played the wedding music.

ushered guests.
A reception was held in the
church rooms where the bride's
mother received guests in a blue
two-piece double knit suit, black
and white accessories and cor-
sage of yellow miniature roses.
The groom's mother assisted
wearing a three-piece navy blue
and white suit with black ac-
cessories and corsage of pink
miniature roses.
For travelling in Northern
Ontario the bride changed to a
three-piece powder blue wool suit
with white accessories and cor-
sage of talisman roses.
The couple will reside at RR 1
Ayr.

day, August 26 at 11 am,

chapel train trimmed with match-
ing lace fell from the waist. A
dainty floral headdress held her
double elbow-length veil and she

marriage of Miss Sue Ann Wynja
and Wynand Van Oostveen, on
September 5 at 7:30 pm In Bethel
Reformed Church, Exeter.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Gerben Wynja,
RR 2 Hensall and Mr. and Mrs.
Roel Van Oostveen, RR 1 Ayr,
are parents of the groom.

yellow daisies and candelabra
formed the floral setting for the
double ring ceremony for which
Mrs. R. Van Steeg, RR 3 Exeter,
played the wedding music,

gown of white logoda crepe in
princess style with empire waist,
elbow-length sleeves, scoop
neckline, and chapel train. The
edge of the sleeves and the waist
were trimmed with tiny white
roses. Her headpiece was a clus-
ter of the roses frosted with
pearls, from which fell her silk
illusion veil. She carried a bou-
quet of white glads, red roses
and leather leaf with fern.

It was voted to care for the
new trees and shrubs that had
been planted this year and pre-
pare them for the winter.
The meeting was chaired by
President Mrs. Delmer Skinner.
Better lighting was discussed for
the basement hallway at the Ann
Street entrance and it was de-
cided to contact the Hospital
Board in that regard.

Members of South Huron Aux-
iliary met Tuesday afternoon to
resume their activities for the
fall season.
Tag Day is planned for Satur-
day, September 30 with Mrs.
Earl Russell as convener. The
fall rummage sale is to be held
October 14 with Mrs. Wellington
Brock and Mrs. Robert Chaffe
as co-conveners.
The fall regional conference
was held the day following the
meeting, September 13 at St.
Joseph's Hospital, Guelph. Mrs.
Gerald Godbolt represented South
Huron Auxiliary.
Mrs. E. D. Bell reported on
the upcoming centennial activ-
ities including special displays
at Exeter Fair, church service
at Thames Road sponsored by
Hurondale and Elimville In-
stitutes on Sunday afternoon, Oc-
tober 8, with Rev. Harold Snell
as speaker and Roy Goulding as
song leader and the centennial

caller at the Times-Advocate
Tuesday. He and his wife were
spending a few days with Mr.
and Mrs. C. E. Acheson, town,
on their way to visit their daugh-
ter in Montreal and taking in
Expo.
Miss Jane Southcott left Sat-
urday for Toronto where she
has enrolled in the Florence
Nightingale School of Nursing.
Mr. & Mrs. J. K. Newby left
Wednesday to attend a convention
in Los Angeles, California.
Mr. & Mrs. Rex Balentine of
Cupertino, Cal. arrived inExeter
Friday to visit the latter's par-
ents, Dr. & Mrs. M. C. Fletcher.
They are all attending Expo this
week.

18 4-H Homemaking Club mem-
bers who will represent Huron
County at Junior Day at Western
Fair on Friday, September 15.
Club exhibits and demonstra-
tions will be presented in the
afternoon. Huron's contribution
to the afternoon program is a
demonstration entitled (,1., e t's
Make Tea Biscuits."
A special banquet and the
grandstand performance will
complete the day.

Miss Sandra Snider has re-
turned home from a month's
visit to Europe and will resume
her studies in third year medi-
cine at University of Western
Ontario.

Kernick of Montreal.

ard Kerr, infant son of Rev. and
Mrs. Howard Kerr, Armstrong,
B,C., was baptized at Caven
Presbyterian Church, by his
grandfather, Rev. Samuel Kerr,
Embro, formerly of Exeter.
Mr. and Mrs. John Burke,
town. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Bren-
ner, Grand Bend, have left on a
three-week trip to Ireland spon-
sored by a Forest service club.
Mr. Lloyd Beavers, Birming-
ham, Michigan. visited several
days last week with Mrs. Myrtle
Brown. William St.
Mrs. Hubert Cooper is a patient
in St. Joseph's Hospital, London,
having undergone surgery last
Monday.
Mrs. Mildred Batson, London,
is visiting in Vancouver this
month the guest of Mr. and Mrs.
Bert Ellsmere, formerly of Ex-
eter. Enroute home she will spend
some time with her sister, Mrs.
Lawrence White and Mr. White
of Kindersley. Sask.. also with

B.C. VISITORS
Mr. and Mrs. Herm Dettmer
have as their house guests the
latter's aunts, Mrs. Beatrice
Steeves, and Mrs. Frances Cam-
ozzi, of New Westminster and
Revelstoke, B.C. respectively.
They will be going on next week
to Kentville, Nova Scotia, with
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Murray
who visited with Mrs. Murray's
sisters in this area.
The visitors from the West
hope the citizens of these parts
are eroying the fine weather
they brought along from B.C.
This is their first visit to On-
tario, the birthplace of their
parents.

RETURN FROM GERMANY
Mr. and Mrs. Wellington Heist
arrived home Saturday from
Lahr, Germany, atter spending
seven weeks visiting their son-
in-law and daughter. Sgt. Lorne
and Mrs, Listoen and family,
Sgt. Listoen is serving with the
Canadian Armed Forces (RCAF)
overseas.
They spent three weeks accom-
panied by the Listoens travelling
through Switzerland to Italy
where they camped at a beach
near Pisa for several days and
then to Jesolo Beach near Venice
for one week. From there they
visited Rome and then north
through Austria to Germany.
Mr. and Mrs. Heist visited
cousins at Gottingen, Gross
Lengden and Klein Lengden in
Germany.
