The Kirkton Horticultural So-
ciety held its annual Flower Show
Tuesday, August 22 in Russeldale
Hall.
Mr. Jas Burston, London, judg-
ed the flowers in the afternoon,
with the best display yet. There
were 27 adult exhibitors with a
total of 212 entries and six juv-
enile exhibitors with 12 entries.
Mrs. Tom Hern had the most
points and won first prize, 25
lbs. Vigoro; second prize, Mrs.
Norman Brock, 14 lbs. Vigoro,
third prize, Mrs. Orman Mac-
Dougald, 5 lbs. Vigoro, donated
by the Kirkton Horticultural So-
ciety.
Special prizes donated by
Swift's Canadian Co. was won by
Mrs. Burton Morgan; best ar-
rangement of roses in a small
basket, 3 lbs. Vigoro; Mrs. Or-
man MacDougald won first prize,
Canadian Flag in red and white,
3 lb. Vigoro.
Mrs. Jack Hern was Master
of Ceremonies for the evening
program, which consisted of
piano duets by Joan and Brian
Pym, solos by Mrs. Bruce Cann,
Exeter, accompanied by her
daughter and accordion solos by
Miss Lynn West, London. Miss
Anna Peterson, London, demon-
strated floral arrangements with
the flowers that were shown in the
display.
A good crowd enjoyed theflow-
er show and program.
