Conduct funeral
for area farmer
Funeral services for the late
William G. Thomson was held
from Bonthron Funeral Chapel
on Friday conducted by Rev.
Donald Stuart, with burial in
Hensall Union cemetery.
Bearers were Elgin and Bert
Thomson, Ross and Edison For-
rest, Harold and Earl Dignan,
all cousins of the deceased. Mr.
Thomson was killed in an acci-
dent at Reece's Corners, 14
miles east of Sarnia, August 29
while attempting to cross High-
way '7 to go to a fruit stand.

Mrs. Helen Scene of Hensall as
Kindergarten teacher. Mrs.
Scane served in this capacity
for sixteen years with the Hensall
public School Board and Hay
Township School Area Board.
In June Mrs. Scane was the re-
cipient of a lovely gift from the
other members of the Hensall
Public School Staff at a dinner
party given in her honour at the
home of the principal, Mr. Robert
Reaburn.
Other changes have been made
with Mrs. Faye Forrester of
RR Zurich and Mrs. Jean Jolly
being transferred to Zurich Pub-
lic School while Mrs. Phylis
Deichert and Mrs. Margaret
Horner have been moved to the
Hensall School. Mrs. Doreen
Oesch who taught Grade 3 at
Hensall has returned to the
Zurich School and she has been
succeeded by Mrs. Edna Thomp-
son of Clinton. On the opening
day the enrolment was: Kinder-
garten, 24; Grade 1, 40; Grade 2,
31; Grade 3, 33; Grade 4, 30;
Grade 5, 32; Grade 6, 30; Grade
7, 22; Grade 8, 37.
Total enrollment was 279.

TEACHERS AT WORK
This week the teachers of the
district go back to their classes.
During the summer at the Uni-
versity of Western Ontario, Mrs.
Ross Haugh took a course in
French, Mr.Reg.Finkbeiner, one
in English and Mr. Don Finkbe in-
er courses in music and psychol-
ogy. Mrs. Haugh returns to her
science teaching at Usborne Cent-
ral School, Mr. Reg Finkbeiner
to Grades 6 and 7 Tecumseh
Public School, London and Mr.
Don Finkbeiner to Grade 8, Ste-
phen Central School.
Mrs. Robert Crawford is teach-
ing Grade 1, Clinton Public
School; Miss Sandra Taylor,
Grade 5 at Divine Street School,
Sarnia and Mrs. Lorne Preszcat-
or, Grade 1 at West Williams
School near Parkhill. Miss Kath-
leen Buxton, who worked for the
Department of Highways, Lon-
don, during the summer months,
will be teaching Grade 4 in St.
Patrick's Separate School, Lon-
don,

Honor bride
at Brinsley

Freeman Wesley Morlock, a
lifelong resident of Stephen
Township, died in South. Huron
Hospital, Saturday, September 2,
fie had celebrated his '79th birth-
day on August 31.
He was the son of William
Morlock and Lydia liaist. He
operated a shoe store on Crecli-
ton's Main Street, a store which
he purchased from Barney Brown
in 1922, and also managed the
post office in the store until a
new postmaster was appointed.
After the death of his brother,
Clinton he added electrical work,
radio and TV to his business.
Mr, Morlock was a faithful
member of the Crediton EUB
Church. He belonged to the choir
for more than fifty years and
was choir leader for thirty-eight.
years. He was a teacher in the
Sunday School all his adult life,
Communion steward for many
years, secretary-treasurer of
the church for twenty-five years,
and cemetery trustee since 1944.
He was also indefatigable in
community affairs. He served as
division court clerk for fifteen
years, bailiff for several years,
township tax collector for twenty-
five years, township treasurer
for fifteen years and cleric-trea-
surer for ten.
He is survived by his wife,
the former Addileen (Addle)
Geiser, and his sister Clara,
Mrs. Charles Hoffman of Blue-
vale.
Interment was on Monday in
the HUB cemetery following a
memorial service in the Credi-
ton church. Pallbearers were Ray
Morlock, Gordon Morlock, Wil-
liam Swartz, Arthur Gaiser, Aub-
rey Gaiser and Earl Lippert.
Those who came from a dist-
ance to pay tribute to Mr. Mor-
lock were Mr. & Mrs. Ralph
Heist, Mr. & Mrs. Howard Heist,
Mr. & Mrs. Leo Heist and Mr.
& Mrs. Gordon Heist of Fen-
wick; Mr. & Mrs, Tom Hastings
of Markham; Mrs. Simon Morlock
bride's mother entertained at a
trousseau tea. Receiving with the
bride and her mother was the
groom's mother, Mrs. R. E.
Rhodes of Calgary, Alberta.
The table, which was covered
with a white cut work cloth, was
centred with an arrangement of
pink carnations and white mums
and pink candles. Presiding at
the tea table were Mrs. N. E.
Cook and Mrs. Harold Currie
in the afternoon and Mrs. Walter
Spencer and Mrs. Douglas Cook
in the evening. Others who assist-
ed were Miss Ann Mickle, Miss
Carolyn Cook, Mrs. Robert Cook,
Mrs. Douglas Mann, Mrs. Robert
Reaburn, Miss Beth Cook. Show-
ing gifts were Miss Cathy Scane,
Miss Marsha Young, Mrs. Alan
Reynolds.
Miss Sylvia Henderson is a
patient in Clinton Community
Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Terry North and
Teresa, St. Thomas, spent the
weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Harry
Snell.
Hensall WI will resume its
fall meeting Wednesday, Sep-
tember 13 at the Legion Hall at
8:15.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Rigby re-
turned to Blenheim after spending
last week with Mr. and Mrs.
Harry Snell.
Mr. Charles Mickle left Mon-
day for Hamilton where he will
begin his sixth year teaching
History and Geography at the
Westdale Secondary School.
Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Tierney,
John and David, North Bay, visit-
ed recently with Mrs. Earle
Sproat, also Mr. and Mrs. W. J.
McLean and Bill Jr. ofHamilton.
WO2 R. A. MacKinnon, of
Oromoto, N.B., spent the week-
end with his mother, Mrs. Janet
MacKinnon. Mrs. MacKinnon was
also visited on Sunday by her son
and daughter-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs. Wm MacKinnon of London.
Mrs. John Henderson andfam-
ily, Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Under-
wood of Gorrie, spent the weekend
holiday with Mr. and Mrs. Keith
Lindsay and family, Hamilton,
and attended the ball game be-
tween Hamilton Tiger Cats and
Toronto Argonauts at Hamilton
on Monday, Labour Day.
Mrs. Sim Roobol is a patient
in Clinton Community Hospital,
having been admitted on Thurs-
day last.

,of Ottawa, received the Holy
Rites of Baptism at Hensall
United Church Sunday morning

Dale Turvey, Exeter, was best
man and Reg McLeod, Deep River
and Bruce Griffiths of Montreal
ushered the guests. The reception
which followed was held at Oak-
wood Inn, Grand Bend, The
bride's mother received guests
in a bronze metallic ensemble
with a blue feather hat and a
corsage of bronze cymbidium
orchid and blue stephanotis. The
groom's mother wore a blue
metallic ensemble with white ac-
cessories and corsage of white
cymbidium orchid and white
stephanotis.
For travelling to Northern on-
tario, the bride chose a coral
Italian knit suit with black ac-
cessories and a white orchid
corsage.
The couple will reside in Kit-
chener where the bride is on the
staff of the Forest Heights Col-
legiate and the groom is in his
final year at the University of
Waterloo.
Prior to her wedding, the bride
was honored at showers given by
Miss Marsha Young in Hamilton,
Miss Bonnie Rowe in Toronto,
Mrs. John Gilbert in London and
Mrs. Robert Cook and Mrs. Doug-
las Cook at the former's home
in Hensall.

The marriage of Mary Jean
Scene, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Howard M. Scane, Hensall, and
Gordon Barry Tucker, son of
Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Rhodes of
Calgary, Alberta, was solemnized
at the United Church, Hensall,
on Saturday, August 26, at 12
o'clock noon, with Rev. Harold
Currie officiating.
Mrs. Robert Pryde, Hensall,
played the wedding music and
accompanied the soloist, Miss
Sylvia Karges, Granton, who sang
"The Wedding Prayer" and "The
Wedding Hymn".
The bride, who was given in
marriage by her father, chose
a floor-length gown of white
chantilly lace and soft French
crepe. The "cage style" featur-
ed a scalloped sabrina neckline,
elbow-length sleeves and a tiny
satin bow at the front empire
line. The main centre of attention
was focused on the cathedral
length silk illusion veil strewn
with appliques of the same chan-
tilly lace and cascading from a
chantilly lace headpiece. She car-
ried a cascade of Johanna Hill
roses and ivy.
Miss Cathy Scane, sister of the
bride, was maid of honor, and
bridesmaids were Miss Marsha
Young of Hamilton, and Mrs.
John Gilbert of St. Catharines.
They were gowned alike infloor-
length cage style dresses of
conducted by Rev. H. F. Currie.
Flowers in the church sanctuary
were in loving memory of Mary
Ellen Plumb, and William G.

Mrs. Frank Trainor and family
returned home by train after
visiting relatives for the past
month in prince Edward Island.
Mr. Richard Trainor enrolled
for his second year course at
the Vocational School of Elec-
tronics in London this week.
Mrs. Pubben, mother of Mrs.
Harry Van Osch, has returned
home by plane to Holland after
a pleasant visit with her family.

Miss Margaret Amos, bride-
elect of September 9, was honor-
ed at a trousseau tea by her
mother, Mrs. Grant Amos, Brins-
ley, on Saturday, September 2.
Guests were received by the
bride-elect, the groom's mother
and the hostess.
The tea table, covered with a
lace cloth, was centred by a
floral arrangement and white tap-
ers. Mrs. Bessie Amos, great-
aunt of the bride and Mrs. Dor-
othy McAlpine, aunt of the groom,
poured tea in the afternoon while
Mrs. Charles Brand, aunt of the
bride and Mrs. Charles Atkinson,
aunt of the groom, poured during
the evening.
Hostesses at showers were
Mrs. Gerald Wright, West McGil-
livray and Mrs. Norman Amos,
Kirkton. The bride-elect was also
honored at a community shower
held in the Brinsley United
Church basement. In addition a
surprise shower was given for
the bridal couple by the Cub Pack
of which they are leaders and
the Rovers held a barbecue, at
which they were presented with
a gift.
