PERSONALS A shower for Miss Margaret Amos, bride-elect, was held at Brinsley United Church Tuesday, evening, August 29, Her wedding is to take place in same church Saturday, September 9 to Mr. Donald McAlpine of Ailsa Craig. Mr. George Prest badly sprained his ankle. He was taken to the hospital by a neighbor, Mr. Harold Scott, for treatment and returned to his home. While grain harvest is in full swing some of the yields of barley are not up to par but oats are a fair crop. Rev. John Davies will preach his farewell services at Ailsa Craig, Brinsley and Carlisle on Sunday, September 3 prior to leaving to a new appointment at Kirkland Lake. Carmel Neighbors and friends gathered together at Dashwood Com- munity Centre Monday evening to honor Miss Mary McKeever, bride-elect of September 2 with a bridal shower. After many contests were en- joyed the bride was brought for- ward and an address was read by Miss Jane McCann. The bride received many beautiful gifts and thanked the givers for each. Paul and Brian McCann spent a few days in London visiting with their aunt, Mrs. Cecelia Doyle. Mrs. Mae Fleming has re- turned home from a pleasant visit with her daughter, Mrs. Lawrence Kuntz. Misses Rosalie and Geraldine Carey returned home Sunday after a visit in Windsor with relatives, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Micalfe. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Giard and baby visited over the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Carey. Miss Nancy Ryan and Miss Mary McKeever of London visit- ed with their parents for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. Van Oesh Sr., have returned home to Holland after spending six weeks with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Van Oesh and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Gielen. Mrs. Paul Hajas left by train to spend a couple weeks visiting her mother who is ill in Win- nipeg. Mr. Larry Dietrich visited for a few days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dietrich. Miss Mary Angela Glavin spent the weekend with Miss Margaret Ann Hogan. Miss Karen Helm, Kitchener, was a guest of Miss Reta Anne Carey for a week at the home of her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Carey. Many alterations are com- pleted at Our Lady of Mt. Several visit Expo Crediton folk visit west By MISS ELLA MORLOCK Mrs. Garfield Hill and Stanley have returned from a five week tour that took them to the home of relatives in Vancouver, North Dakota and Minnesota. The out- ward journey and the return to Minnesota were made by train, the trip from Minneapolis to Cleveland by plane. Adverse weather conditions delayed the flight from Chicago so that Mrs. Hill and Stanley missed their plane connection at Cleveland and were obliged to spend the night there. The next morning there were no vacant seats on the plane so they completed the return journey to London by bus. They noted the dry weather con- dition in British Columbia, and saw scars of burnt-out forest fires. of Parkhill, and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Metcalfe of London were guests of Miss Laura Mathers Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. William Smith and Gerald travelled to Pigeon, Michigan last week to visit Mrs. Leonard Wing, sister of Mrs. Smith. Mrs. Smith plans to re- main in Pigeon for several weeks. Visitors to Expo last week were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Weber and Shelley; Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Morlock and Mr. and Mrs. Don Finkbeiner, Mrs. Isaac Gower and Mrs. Vera Bullock attended the wed- ding of Gloria Gower and Henry Miller at Woodstock last Satur- day.
