QUILT MONEY FOR MISSIONS
One of the booths on the street
for Lucan's Centennial Day was
convened by St. Patrick's CWL.
Cakes were sold, also cake and
ice cream.
The double wedding ring quilt
on which tickets were sold was
won by Miss Sharon Van Bussel
of RR 3 Lucan. The proceeds of
quilt tickets are to go to the
Mission fields of Peru and China.
Mrs. Ivan Ross is convener of
Missions and realized a nice sum
for this charity.

A large crowd of friends and
neighbors gathered in the Family
Life Centre of the Staffa United
Church Wednesday evening to
honor Miss Romona Worden on
her forthcoming marriage.
Mrs. George Vivian was chair-
man for the evening. Readings
given by Miss Olive Speare and
Mrs. Arthur Kemp were enjoyed.
Geraldine Templeman favored
with two solos. Contests were
conducted by Mrs. A. II. Daynard,
Mrs. Ross Smale, Mrs.Cameron
Vivian and Miss Margaret Hog-
garth.
An address of good wishes was
read by Mrs. George Moore and
Misses Joanne Worden, Bonnie
Miller and Margaret Hoggarth
assisted Rornona in opening her
gifts. Romona thanked everyone
in her pleasing way and lunch
was served by the Staffa ladies.

All roads will be leading to
Centralia on Saturday afternoon
for the dedication and opening of
the Centralia CommunityCentre,
the Centennial project for the
village. A parade from the CN
Station to the Centennial Centre
will begin at 1:30 and will be
followed by a program and
sports. There will be a smor-
gasbord supper at 5 o'clock.
Paper plates and cups will be
supplied.
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Powe,
Elaine and Marie attended the
Boulais-MacGregor wedding in
Stratford Friday evening. They
were accompanied home by their
aunt, Mrs. Allan McLay who is
visiting with them for a few days.
Mr. and Mrs, Ray Shoebottom,
Danny and Mary returned home
Saturday evening following a two
week's vacation at their cottage at
Parry Sound. During their
vacation Mr. and Mrs. Ray Shoe-
bottom and Mary and Mrs. F. C.
Shoebottom motored to Kipawa,
Quebec where they visited with
the former's aunt, Mrs. Sadie
Nichols.
Sunday guests at the home of
Mrs. Lorne Hicks were Mr. and
Mrs. Gerald Paul and Terri of
Kirkton.
Miss Mavis Urquhart of Lon-
don spent a few days with her
grandparents, the Rev. and Mrs.
R. V. Wilson.
Mrs. Jack Essery and Ron
accompanied by Mrs. Harold Pat-
terson and Gail of Exeter and
Mrs. Tom Bickeil of St. Marys
spent several days at Expo and
also visited with Mr. and Mrs.
Richard Waite and family at St.
Hubert's, Quebec. On the way
Bimini last week.
Randy and Brian Parkinson,
St. Marys, spent the weekend
with their grandparents, Mr. and

Several families from Whalen
attended the Zion SS picnic held
at Seaforth Park Saturday.
