The bride is the daughter of
Mr. & Mrs, J. Edward Conlin of
Kitchener (formerly of Main St.,
Lucan) and the groom is the son
of Mr. & Mrs. P. Joseph Flynn,
also of Kitchener.
Given in marriage by her fath-
er, the bride chose afloor-length
gown of white summer peau feat-
uring a lace bodice and sleeves.
A detachable cathedral train of
peau, edged with matching lace,
hung from the shoulders. A tiara
of white seed pearls, held her
bouffant finger-tip veil. She car-
ried a cascade of roses, stephan-
otis, ferns and streamers.
Miss Carol Feeney of Water-
loo, as maid of honour and Miss
Maureen Flynn (sister of the
groom), Mrs. John Conlin of
Downsview, Mrs. Paul Conlin of
Winnipeg, Miss Jane Ruppel of
Waterloo and Mrs. Jim Boniface
of Cooksville, as bridesmaids,
wore identical floor-1 ength
sleeveless gowns of mint green
brocade with A line, empire
waistline and matching h e ad-
pieces of brocade and tulle. They
carried cascades of white mums.
Cathy Conlin, sister of the
bride, made a charming flower
girl in a gown of white organza
over taffeta, with high empire
waistline, accented with green
brocade and rosettes of the same
in her hair. She carried a bask-
et of roses and carnations.
John Conlin of Downsview was
best man and ushers were H. C.
Flynn, brother of the groom,
Paul and Hugh Conlin, Jim Boni-
face and Terry Plomske.
Miss Gay Malleck of Kitchener
provided traditional wedding mu-
shade. with matching shoes and
purse and white accessories.She
was assisted by the groom's
mother, who also wore a dress,

Hall grounds Saturday. It start-
ed with a ball game, with Brenda
Hodgins' team beating her sister,
Linda's team, 9-8.

dozens of hot dogs for the hungry
crowd.

Mr. & Mrs. Harry Hardy and
family have returned from a
two week motor trip to New
Brunswick, where they were
guests of Mrs. Hardy's fath-
er, Mr. D. Hutchinson, and at-
tended her niece's H.S. gradua-
tion.
Mrs. Wes Atkinson is baby-
sitting at her son Gerald's of
London while Mr. & Mrs. Atkin-
son and girls visit Expo.
Mr. & Mrs. Charles Bishop
of Thorold spent the weekend with
Mr. & Mrs. Murray Hodgins.
Mr. Bernard Avery has pur-
chased the Chown house on Alice
St., recently vacated by the Mill-
er family and is making exten-
sive repairs and renovations be-
fore renting it.
Mr. & Mrs. John Eady (nee
Haskett) have returned home
from their honeymoon trip to
Jamaica. which they found ex-
tremely hot,
The Pentecostal Holiness Sun-
day School held its picnic last
Saturday at the Conservation
Park, with an attendance of about
50.
Sue-Ellen and Christine Kam
(11 and 8 years) flew alone from
Vancouver Friday to spend the
summer with their aunt and uncle,
Mr. & Mrs. Keith Dickson, While
here they will visit Expo with
the Dickson family.
Wayne Hodgins, son of Mr. &
Mrs. Murray Hodgins, passed
Grade 13 technology at Beal Tech,
London, which is equivalent to
first year at Ryerson Polytech-
nical Institute in Toronto, where
he will enter second year inSep-
tember.

wedding anniversary of Mr. and
Mrs. Ross McCutchon of London
held at the Armories, Saturday,
July 8, were Mrs. Kennon Fischer

C. Haskett & Son's Centennial
prize.
Mrs. J. E. Orr of Parkhill,
was a Tuesday visitor of Mr.
& Mrs. Harold Corbett and Miss

Things are moving along very
well at the Center now with sum-
mer school in the competent
hands of Miss Kathy Mathers
and Miss Carla Revington.
We have started our second
session of swim lessons with a
turnout of 150 children, mostly
in learn to swim. We held the
adult lessons up one week be-
cause of the cold nights last week
but got started July 18. rhese
classes are for eight nights Tues-
day and Thursday 9-10 pm and
include learn to swim, survival
swimming etc. Cost $2.00 per
person for the course.
In baseball the pee wee Bant-
ams have a 5-5 record; the Ban-
tam midgets have a 2-6 record
and are at the bottom of the
league.

Hydro retiree
dies suddenly
James William Aylestock, 81,
died suddenly at his home on
William St, Lucan, Thursday,
July 13.
The body rested in the Murdy
Funeral Home, Lucan where the
Rev. G. W. Sach of the United
Church conducted funeral ser-
vices at 8 pm Sunday evening
July 16. Interment was in Rest-
haven Memorial Gardens Ltd.,
Scarborough at 12 noon Monday
July 17.
He is survived by his wife, the
former Jem ima (Minnie) Lawson,
four sons, Lloyd, Howard, Frank
of Montreal and Don of London,
four daughters, Rev. Addle Ayle-
stock of St. Catharines, Mary
(Mrs. Charles Ross), Rella (Mrs.
Bob Braithwaite) and Dorothy
(Mrs. Bob Doxen) all of Tor-
onto, also 24 grandchildren and
seven great-grandchildren.
Only child of the late Mr, and
Mrs. Karl Aylestock, Mr. Ayle-
stock was born in Elmira. Dur-
ing his early life, he worked as
butler and coachman for Dr.
Campbell of New York. After
his marriage in 1909, he worked
as a farmer and on constructive
work for 25 years at Listowel
and for two years at Drayton.
In 1943 he moved to Lucan
and worked on the waterworks
and hydro here, until he retired
at the age of 66.
He and Mrs. Aylestock cele-
brated their golden wedding in
1959, Thursday morning he was
up to the post office. In the after-
noon he took a weak spell and
died suddenly.
Antique store
changes hands
Mr, Ian Wallace of London
has purchased Lucan's antique
store at the corner of Main and
Water Sts, from Mr. Denny Man-
sell, as the latter, an employee
of Beamer Lathrop Mechanical
and Electrical Ltd., has been
transferrred to Vancouver.
During Mr. Mansell's stay in
Lucan he made extensive changes
and repairs on the store and
dwelling.
Mr. Wallace will also operate
an antique store and will con-
tinue renovations and improve-
ments to the store and dwelling.
Wedding event
marked by trip
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Butler,
Jr. and Marlene, have just re-
turned home from a trip to the
west coast, while celebrating
their 25th wedding anniversary.
While in Vancouver they visited
Mrs. Butler's brother, They also
spent a few days at their daugh-
ter's in Lethbridge, where they
attended a stear barbecue in
their honor with 50 guests. On
the return trip they spent a few
days seeing the Calgary stam-
pede.
PURCHASES BUILDING
The Lucan Hydro Commission
which had an office in the Muni-
cipal Building, has purchased the
old planing-mill on William St.,
and will be holding an Open House
in the near future.
Leslie Carling flew alone, to
South America to visit her moth-
er.
Mrs. Henry Mooney and son
Pat, spent Wednesday in Bramp-
ton, guests of Mr. & Mrs. Thom-
as Skilton, bringing home Jackie,
who had spent a week in Bramp-
ton.
Mr. & Mrs. Jim Luke and
Valerie of St. Boniface, Man.,
were Tuesday guests of Mr. &
Mrs. Clarence Hardy.
Mrs. Will Haskett has re-
turned home after spending a
few days with Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd
Cook of London.
Miss Carol Latta has accepted
a position with The London Life.
Mrs. Kay Egan spent last week-
end with her son Frank and fain-
Hy of Dunnville.
Mr. Edgar Watson of Lucknow
called on. Mr. & Mrs. Cecil Robb,
Thursday.
Mr. & Mrs. Sheridan Roving-
ton and Gary have returned from
a few days motor trip through
Ohio. Mr. Revington has recover-
ed from his food poisoning.
Mr. Erwin Scott, Who has been
a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital
for some time has been moved
to St. Marys Hospital.

gained sufficiently to have to take
