Ernie Davis was put in the stocks at Hensall this week for not having a shaving permit, but as the top
photo clearly indicates, he didn't go without a struggle. In fact, he indicated that if his strength hadn't
waned from a recent trip to hospital, he may not have been put there at all. However, the bottom picture
shows him well subdued and his bearded captors from the left are: Harold Knight, Bob Baker, John
Baker and George Beer. Other Hensall men without permits may suffer the same fate this weekend
at the village's centennial celebrations scheduled for Friday night and Saturday. The bearded men will
have their growth judged Friday and the program will be featured by two exciting Western horse shows,
two dances, a fashion show and a giant parade. T-A photos
