The Rev. Robert V. Wilson,
minister of Emmanuel United
Church, North Bay, for the past
ten years, who retired from the
active ministry at the end of the
Conference year has taken over
the pastoral duties of the Cen-
tralia United Church.
The induction service Thursday
evening was conducted by the
Rev. S. E. Lewis, Exeter and
the Rev. Donald Stuart, Bruce-
field delivered the sermon.
The Rev, E, Roulston who has
supplied for the month of June
was master of ceremonies for
the reception which followed in
the church schoolroom, Rev. and
Mrs. Wilson took up residence
in the manse last week.

The first graduates of the new Stephen township Central school re-
ceived their diplomas at commencement exercises held at the Dash-
wood Community Hall, Tuesday. Principal Ronald Heimrich presented

Staffa WI hear Perth history ANGLICAN
The Anglican Guild met in the
Parish Hall last Wednesday even-
ing. Mrs. Don Ankers assisted
the president, Mrs. Charles Hag-
gar, in the worship service.
During the business session
it was decided the ladies would
paint a small room in the base-
ment.
After a long discussion it was
finally decided not to instal a
booth at Lucan's street bazaar
Friday.

Well we have our swimming
pool open now and everything is
really buzzing with all the child-
ren splashing about. I have a good
swim session in progress with
165 entries in.
We didn't have any ball last
week with all the rain. Although
we played a Bantam game at
Bryanston Tuesday, June 27 and
got beaten 9-7. Although the boys
should have won, as usual they
had one bad inning and away went
the old ball game.
We had a large Dutch wedding
in the Centre Saturday night, July
1. Miss Jean Cornelisson of Clan-
deboye was the bride.
We have public swimming at the
pool every day from 2 - 4 pm and
7 - 9 pm. We will be having adult
lessons if enough of the older
people are interested, 6-7 pm or
9-10 pm two nights a week.

Elizabeth and Prince Philip were
hung.
SUNDAY SERVICE
Communion and special cen-
tennial service was held Sunday
morning at which a hymn com-
posed by the Rev. G. W. Sach
of the United Church was sung.
It was announced Mr. David
Long, a Huron College student,
would be in charge of the July
services.

Staffa WI met in the township
hall Wednesday evening June 28
with Mrs. Ed Chappel presiding.
Roll call "one of my grandmoth-
er's health remedies", was ans-
wered by 18 members.
Reports were given from the
committees for the area con-
vention, Mitchell Fair, township
hall and the Centennial float.
An invitation to attend a picnic
in Riverview Park was accepted
from Kirkton WI. As Mrs. Chap-
pel was unable to attend the
FWIC in Guelph, she read an
interesting press report on the
convention. There will be no
meeting in July and the August
meeting is in charge of the di-
rectors.
The conveners of Home Eco-
nomics and Health then took
charge of the meeting. Mrs. Cam-
eron Vivian presented the motto

The evening UCW meeting was
held last Tuesday evening in

Stanley, Mrs. Tom Barr and

of the worship service. They

Maguire for the lunch.
As Mrs. Dave Park was in
Toronto, there was no study book.

The annual picnic of SS 3 Hib-
bert was held recently with a
large crowd in attendance.
After a bounteous picnic sup-
per, games and relays were held
under the direction of Brenda
Kerslake, Carol Glanville, Allan
Butson, Rannie Armstrong and
Doris Jeffery.
During the evening apresenta-
tion was made to Mr. and Mrs.
Roy McDonald, who are moving
from the communit y. Brenda
Kerslake read an address and
Bill Jeffery and Dianne Miller
presented them each with gifts.
Mrs. James McNaughton is the
teacher.

ing service before leaving for
Arthur.
CGIT NEWS
The Lucan-Clandeboye CGIT
and friends enjoyed a bus trip
to Midland Friday, June 30.
Forty-two girls and four adults
visited the Indian Village, Fort
St. Marie and the Martyrs Shrine.
A brief business meeting was
held on the bus when the girls
were reminded of the "Sweet 'n
Junk" booth at the Centennial
Sidewalk Sale and Street Dance
Friday, July 7. Each family is
asked to provide a double recipe
of its favorite candy. Candy and
"junk" are to be brought to the
church Thursday evening at 7 pm.
UCW NEWS
Plans are finalized for the
"Nearly New" Shop to be held
in connection with the Centennial
Sidewalk and Street Dance on
Friday, July 7. All contributions
are to be taken to the Cochrane
Store where members will re-
ceive and price them.
Mr. and Mrs. John Morkin of
Grande Prairie, Alberta, are
visiting their daughter, Mrs.
Hugh O'Leary in London, and
renewing old friendships at
Lucan.
Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Simpson
and family of London have moved
into the house vacated by Mr.
Jas. Cahill.
Leonard Anderson, eight-
year-old son of Mr. and Mrs.
Bob Anderson of Alice St. who
was a patient of the War Mem-
orial Hospital for five days, was
able to be brought home.
Mrs. N. W. Wasnidge of Water
St. who has been on the sick
list for some time is now a
patient at Craig Holme, Ailsa
Craig.
Mr. Bernard Stanley B.A., son
of Mr. and Mrs. Emerson Stan-
ley, who has been attending Mc-
Master University at Hamilton,
has received word that he won a
$2600 Fellowship.
Ann Thompson of London is
spending a few weeks of her
summer vacation with her grand-
mother, Mrs. Katherine Fischer.
Mrs. Mary Squire last Monday
entertained twelve little girls in
honor of her daughter, Mary Jane
Culbert's 10th birthday. She was
assisted by Jane Crozier and
Maureen Smith.
Mrs. J. R. Murray and Bob
were Saturday guests of Mr. and
Mrs. Jack Murray of London.
Bye Bye Pat owned and driven
by Clint Hodgins won the Juvenile
Pace at the Western Fair Race-
way Saturday evening and Fire-
side Adios owned by Dr. Harvey

mile in the fastest trip of the
night.
