North Bosanquet Sell church at Whalen,
congregation joins Zion

WHALEN
With Mr. Alvin Walper as auc-
tioneer, a twilight auction sale
of Whalen United Church and con-
tents was held on the premises
Friday evening. Staffs cattle
drover Gordon Phillips pur-
chased the building for $10. The
brick building must be removed
by September 30.
Contents and building brought
$770. The oil furnace drew a bid
of $260; two pianos sold for $150
and $90 each and two pair of
antique coal oil lamps sold for
$20 per set.
The church was closed the end
of May because of the smallness
of its congregation most of whom
are now attending services at
Zion United Church.
Mr. & Mrs. Stan Kawarciak
are residing in the Pinery, op-
posite Chas, Serocas.
Mr. & Mrs. H, Prance visit-
ed Mr. & Mrs. G. Gotelaer and
family of Ridgetown, Sunday.
Mr. & Mrs. Al Vincent attend-
ed the funeral of the furmer's
father near Montreal on Wednes-
day.
The militia have been train-
ing at Ipperwash and advance
party for cadets has arrived.
Mr. & Mrs. Al Brindley of

entertained at a picnic in the
Pinery Park, Wednesday.
Graham Weston's car was con-
siderably damaged by fire Sat-
urday night when the fire brigade
was called.
Mr. & Mrs. Chas Serocas and
Joe Adams returned from Expo
Sunday.
Jeffrey Davies, Guelph, spent
last week with Mr. and Mrs.
McLeod Mills.
Joe French and Bruce Mills
went on the bus trip to Niagara
with the pupils of Grade 7 of
Biddulph Central School, Friday.

picnic Saturday at Riverview
Park, Exeter, with around 30
attending. Laura French, Bar-
bara Hodgson and Ray Mills con-
ducted the sports in the afternoon.

The twenty-first annual Mill-
er-McDougall Reunion was held
on Sunday, June 18, at the Sea-
forth Lions Club Park with 45
in attendance. A picnic dinner,
arranged by Mr. and Mrs. Wil-
son McCartney, was enjoyed.

The John Ratz family held their
annual reunion at the Shipka com-
munity centre June 17. Heavy
rain curtailed the usual outdoor
events but a busy afternoon of
indoor games was held in the
hall.
More than 50 people sat down
to a picnic supper.
