WI enjoy area jaunt
Members and friends a the
Lucan Sr Women's. Institute took
a bus trip Thursday, June 15,
leaving Lucan at 1.9 am proceed-
ing, to the Tecumseh Hotel in
Petrolia for a delightfully ''cool"
luncheon (air-conditioned dining
room) followed by a short busi-
ness meeting,
It was decided to ask the execu-
tive to set the date for the Cen-
tennial Antique show and Tweeds-
muir History Tea in September
with the same committees in
charge as planned for May. The
members decided, as all would
be participating in church ac-
tivities at the 4'Sidewelk" sale
on July 7, that the Institute should
not have a booth.
The group proceeded to the Oil
Museum at Oil Springs and the
Fairfield Museum at Fairfield
Village which where both much
enjoyed.
A census was taken as to the
1960 bus trip and KitigsvIlle
Bird Sanctuary proved to be the
most popular.

Area fields become small lakes
If farmers in the area between Exeter and Lucan had known the amount of rain that was to fall this year,
they possibly would have planted rice. Storms in the past two weeks left many fields completely under
water and some crops were badly damaged. This field is located on the Crediton Road, but it is repre-
sentative of many in the area. — T-A photo
