its. 98th anniversary Sunday, May
28. The pastor Rey, Douglas;
Warren, spoke on the parable of
the talents in the morning.
The speaker for the evening
service was Rev. Charles Lewis,
formerly of Kirkton. His message
was "The Cocked Ear", Music
was provided by the choir under

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Collett
and family, who have been liv-
ing up town, moved last week
into the new home built by her
father, Mr. J. Jesney.
Wednesday, May 31, the Cred-
iton Cub pack were pests of the
group at Grand Bend. In the
Legion Park they enjoyed a ball
game and a wiener roast with
their friends.

held Thursday evening, June 1,
With Mrs. Ervin Ratz, Mrs. Chris
Dinney and Mrs. Aaron Wein in
charge of the program, the theme
of which was ',Christian Fam-
ilies involved in Family Life".
A skit was presented by Sheila
and Brenda Fahner, Eleanor Wein
and Kathy Schenk, a vocal duet
by Sheila Fahner and Eleanor
Wein and a number on the con-
certina by Mrs. Chris Dinney.
Mrs. G, E. Wenzel delivered the
spiritual life topic.
The vice-president, Mrs.liow-
ard Zurbrigg, took charge of the
business, with the assistant sec-
retary, Mrs. Alvin Finkbeiner,
reading the minutes. plans were
made for a joint meeting with the
WSWS groups of Dashwood and
Zurich to be held at Crediton
in July.
Hostesses were Mrs. Ed Hen-
drick, Mrs. Wein, Mrs. Zurbrigg
and Mrs. Lorne Morlock.

Mr. Francis Clark, who made
his home in Exeter since leaving
Crediton is now a resident of
the Bluewater Rest Home, Zurich.
The Canadian Bible Society
canvass has been completed with
the contribution totalling $143.65.
Mr. and Mrs. Dawson Anguish
of Caledonia and Mr. and Mrs.
Willard Wilson of Stratford were
weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs.
Bart pascuzzo. In Caledonia con-
tinual rains are preventing the
farmers from entering their
fields.
Recent visitors at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Wenzel
were Mr. and Mrs. Ed Davis
of Toronto (Mrs. Davis is a
sister of Mr. Wenzel), and Mr.
and Mrs. Huey Slater of Cal-
ifornia. Mr. Slater was a friend
of Mr. Wenzel's in Vancouver
more than forty years ago, and
had not seen him since that time.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Darby and
family, Willowdale, were week-
end guests with Mrs. Vera Bul-
lock and Mrs. I. Grwer.
Rev. and Mrs. Karl Tauber,
Fort Wayne, Indiana, spent sev-
eral days with Rev, and Mrs.
Howard Zurbrigg.
Monday Mr. Albert Geiser went
on a fishing trip in the North
Bay area.

Last Wednesday evening, May
24 in the Township Community
Hall, the Women's Institute held
their final meeting of the season,
Mrs. Harvey Hodgins, newly
appointed president, presided
over the business session, Mrs.
Earl Heist gave a report of the
conference at Guelph and Mrs.
Hodgins, one of the District An-
nual.
The group of Historical Re-
search and Current Events is to
be in charge of the display at
Exeter Fall Fair. Plans were
made for the chicken barbecue
to be held August 9 and the
prices were set at $1.50 and
75a„ It was decided that recog-
nition be given to 4-H girls at
the county and provincial levels
only (clubs 6 and 12), and that
4-H leaders receive $5 for their
services.
Mrs. Earl Shapton chaired the
program. Dianne, Sandra and
Wayne Shapton sang. Mrs. P.
Rudolph in humorous vein dis-
cussed the motto "Grandma of
Yesterday and Today". Mrs. Sam
King outlined the history and
resources of British Columbia,
and Mrs. Earl Shapton told what
she had seen in that province
last summer. The display In-
cluded maps, view folders, and a
vase with dogwood design. Mrs.

Mr. and Mrs. Will Oestricher
visited Mr. and Mrs. Charlie
Green at Mitchell. Mc', Green,
who celebrated his ninetieth
birthday in March, has so far
improved in health that he was
able to enjoy a game of cards
with Mr. Oestricher.
Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Barber,
Detroit, and Mrs. N. B. Nicker-
son and Mrs. M. Durham ofClin-
ton called on Mrs. Lorne Morlock
last week.
Messrs Leroy Workman and
Kenneth Bender enjoyed a bus
tour of the central United States.
They also attended a session of
Grand Ole Opry at Nashville,
Tennessee.
Mr. Steve Dundas and Mr.
Wilmer Wein represented
Stephen Township Council at a
banquet of the Huron County Mun-
icipal Officers Association at
Auburn Wednesday, May 24.
Mrs. Ruby Molitor was in
Toronto and Niagara Falls last
weekend. Niagara Park was
thronged with people, and ap-
proaching roads were choked with
bumper to bumper traffic.
Mrs. Laura Donekey (sister of
Reuben Geetz), who died in
Chicago, was brought to the fam-
ily plot in the Exeter Cemetery
for burial. Mr, and Mrs. Aaron
Wein attended the service at the
graveside Saturday afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Finkbeiner
and Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Fink-
beiner were guests at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Reg Finkbeiner of
London, Sunday.
Mr. Joe Wein is in Victoria
Hospital where he underwent sur-
gical treatment for cataract con-
dition.

The final UCW, meeting of
Whalen church was Wednesday
evening in the church hall. Ten
members were present. Mrs.
Cecil Squire and Mrs. Wm. Mor-
ley were hostesses.
Mrs. Wm. Morley was in
charge of the worship service
with Mrs. Alton Neil and Mrs.
Hamilton Hodgins assisting.
During the business Mrs. Gor-
don Johnson gave the financial
report. Plans were discussed
for a picnic.
Sue Ann Squire and Dace Biet-
ass were among the grade '7 and
8 pupils of Blanshard Township
schools, Friday taking in the bus
trip to Midland going to The
Shrine, Fort St. Maria, Wild
Animal Centre, Huron Indian Vil-
lage and Midhurst Reforesta-
tion. Mr. Walters, the principal,
accompanied them.
