Mrs. Laura Donehay, 86, of
Chicago, the former Laura Goetz,
born and raised in Dashwood,
passed away in Chicago, Wed.
May 24.
She is survived by one son
John; one sister, Ida of Chicago;
three brothers, Leslie and Gor-
don of Chicago; Arthur of Melfort,
Sask; two grandchildren, one
great-grandchild.
Burial was in Exeter cemetery,
Saturday May 27. Rev. D. S.
Warren officiating. The T. Harry
Hoffman funeral home was in
charge.
HENRY HOFFMAN
Henry Hoffman, 91, of Huron-
view, Clinton and formerly of
Dashwood, passed away at Clin-
ton Hospital Monday M a y 29
where he had been for a week. He
operated the stage between Dash-
wood, Grand Bend, and Exeter for
45 years before retiring. His
wife, the former Margaret Stacey
died in 1960.
Surviving are one son Harry,
Dashwood; three daughters, Mrs.
Norman (Myrta) Evans, Rich-
mond Hill; Mrs. Mervyn (Alice)
Tiernan and Mrs. Kenneth (Ger-
trude) McCrae, both of Dashwood,
ten grandchildren and ten great-
grandchildren. He was a member
of Dashwood Evangelical UB
church.
The funeral will be Thursday at
2:30 p.m. from the T. Harry
Hoffman funeral home with Rev.
Merrill James in charge. Burial
will be made in Exeter cemetery.

bazaar for June 7, at 2 pm. Mrs.
Jim Barker was hostess for the

following the business meeting
and quilting.
Mr. & Mrs. Fred Dobbs, Fred-
die and Patti visited Mrs.Dobbs'
father, Mr. H. S. McLean of Tees-
water recently. Mr. Dobbs re-
turned home and the others re-
mained for a few day's holidays.
Friday evening they visited Mr.
& Mrs. Bob Mogk and John,
Guelph and attended the Guelph
General Hospital Alumni "Home
coming".

following the service at St. Pat-
rick's Sunday.

Plan contest
for posters

SAINTSBURY
The congregation of St. Pat-
rick's Church, Saintsbury, ob-
served their 106th anniversary
Sunday, May 28.
Rev. S. Bell was in charge of
the service, which included the
dedication of an electric organ,
which followed the reading of the
petition by the wardens Messrs
Bill Johnson and Hugh Davis.
The organ was given to the
church by Mr. Bill Lambourne,
London, in memory of his moth-
er, the late Mrs. Sarah Ann
Lambourne, a former member of
St. Patrick's Church. Mr. Lam-
bourne was also soloist for the
service taking as his solo "Un-
til Then".
Rev. Bell welcomed the con-
gregation and visitors and spoke
of his experience years ago in
Ireland when he visited "Lucan".
He took as his text the first verse
of Psalm 102.
He said he had been reading
the history of this community
and found it interesting and spoke
of the work carried on by the
faithful each year and then mul-
tiply that by 106, to realize the
extent of good both now and in
the past to the community.
Mrs. Tom Kooy was at the or-
gan.

Church Woman's Auxiliary was
held at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Andrew Knox, St. Mary's with
15 present. Mrs. Wm Schaefer

meeting Mrs. Norman Amos

trip to Los Vegas, Honolulu and
San Francisco.

Clayton Smith, Mrs. Wm Schaefer
and hostess.
Mrs. E. J. McLean, formerly
of Lucan, a patient at Parkwood
Hospital, London, reached her
four score and ten birthday
Saturday, May 27. She is most
grateful to the many relatives
and friends who remembered her
with letters, cards and flowers.
Her son Art and Mrs. McLean
entertained 20 members of the
family from Toronto, Tweed and
Windsor to honor the occasion.
UNIT MEETING
At the Evening UCW unit meet-
ing last Tuesday, Mrs. Emerson
Stanley was in charge of the
worship service and Mrs. Rob-
ert Coughlin showed pictures of
her family trip to California.
LUCAN DAY
It was Lucan day at St. Jos-
ephs' Hospital last Tuesday. Mrs.
Clarence Haskett, Mrs. H. S.
Stanley and Mrs. Tom Weller,
all of Lucan, underwent surgery,
and are making satisfactory re-
covery.
Mrs. Cecil Robb, who is con-
vener of Education for the local
branch of the Cancer Society,
presented information to the
school principals, Mr. Berdan
of Biddulph Central and Mr. Mal-
oney of St. Patrick's, regarding
the poster contest sponsored by
the Ontario Division for grades
7 and 8. The subject matter can
be on disease, cancer, treat-
ment or research etc.
The closing date of entries
is October 31, 1967. Mrs. Robb
is very gratified with the re-
sponse to the same, which is
about '75 entries.
Kits to assist each child will
be given. It is expected the
posters entered will be display-
ed at local fairs, libraries, The
Mall, London. Worthwhile awards
will be given.
