Photo by Engel The inter-faith Centennial ser- vice sponsored by the Lucan Ministerial Association, at the request of the Centennial Com- mittee, was held in the auditorium of the Community Centre, Sunday afternoon and drew a capacity attendance. Jr. and Sr. Choirs from the Anglican and UC filled the stage and led in the music. Members of the Royal canadian Legion paraded and occupied the front seats. A number came in cen- tennial attire. Rev. F. J. Bricklin of St. Pat- rick's Church had charge of In- vocation prayers. Rev. G. W. Sach of the UC presided, led in the music and introduced the guest speaker, Rev. Clifford F. Waite DFC, MA, BD, MEd, of Sarnia. Rev. Gordon McDonald of the Pentecostal Holiness Church read the lesson and Rev. E. 0. Lancaster of the Anglican Church, pronounced the benedic- tion. Ltd. of Water- loo (JackNeil and George, form- erly of Lucan) suffered a million dollar loss about 11 pm Friday when fire of unknown origin, de- stroyed their garage, warehouse, two adjoining apartments, a new tractor and four other tractors. Fifty firemen battled the spec- tacular fire, which could be seen for miles, when seven explosions sent sparks 60 feet in the air. The weight loss was 19 1/4 pounds and a gain of only 1 1/2 pounds. The mystery box, donat- ed by Mrs. Mary Carter, RR 2 Granton, was won by the leader, Mrs. Hopps. A theme song composed by Mrs. Carter was accepted and will be sung at the end of each meeting. Most of the meeting was taken up with a report of the Tops' Convention, held in Windsor, which Mrs. Hopps and Mrs. Harry Bond Sr. attended. Both were thrilled with meeting the found- er of the Tops' club, Mrs. Esther Manz, who had flown from the Alaskan convention to attend the convention at Windsor.
