There are notes and informa-
tion on Huron County in many
gazateers and directories and
on early maps. Copies of these
would be a valuable addition to
the collection,
Many inquiries have been re-
ceived from people seeking infor-
mation about ancestors who lived,
in Huron County. Family trees
or histories are needed. Printed
ones or in manuscript form, even
if they are not complete, would be
of great value.
Members or tne society are
compiling records of old ceme-
teries. Any information on these
would be appreciated.
This work is being undertaken
by the Historical Society inorder
to build up a source and supply of
information on Huron County
One book recently purchased
was Lake Huron by Dr. Fred
London, written in 1944. Out
of print books that have ref-
erence to Huron County are need-
ed. Some of these are books on

A donation of $30 was made
to the Huron. County Historical
Society by the Crediton Women's
Institute at thejr April meeting.
This money is to be used to
purchase books that are about
the County or have some ref-
erence to it.
Books by writers who are na-
tives of the County are being
collected, These and other rec-
ords will be placed in the Huron
Archives. This is one of the pro-
jects of the Historical Society. A
room for this purpose has been
provided by the Property Com-
mittee of the HuronCountyCoun-
cll. It is in the south wing of the
Museum Building with the en-
trance on Bruce Street,
The room has been furnished
by the society and a collection of
book s and papers is being as-
sembled. Many of Huron's written
records have been burnt, de-
stroyed or have gone beyond our
borders. It is the aim of the His-
torical Society to collect and pre-
serve as much as they can of what
still remains.
Among the donations received
are the school records from two
townships in the County, also
church histories, James Scott's
books and others.
