"The Exeter minor bowling sea.-
son ended Monday night at the
Legion Hall with a wind-up hot
dog feed for more than 170 boys
and girls.
The youngsters who particiPat-
ed in the active minor bowling
program showed they were tal-
ented in other departments as
well as on the lanes.
They consumed 600 hot dogs
and were in good voice throughout
the evening as the adults who were
present will attest to. Joe Darling
turned out to be the hungriest of
the group, consuming 12, that's
right, twelve "dogs", He won a
prize for his enthusiastic ap-
petite, another hot dog and he ate
it too, with the help of some
additional soft drink to wash it
down.
Mothers of the aspiring young
bowlers served the hot dogs,
ice cream and refreshments with
the assistance of Mrs. Irene
Harness, who never fails to show
up to help the kids.
Exeter's RAP committee,
sponsors of the bowling program,
took care of the cost of the hot
dogs, while the soft drinks and
ice cream were donated by Tuck-
ey Beverages and Bissett's, re-
spectively.
Ruth Durand who has been the
main cog behind the minor bowl-
ing program for many years was
in charge of the evening activi-
ties. The trophy presentations
were many and varied from team
awards to individual honors to
the kids showing the greatest
improvement in their bowling.
Isa Campbell presented the W.
H. Hodgson trophy to pee wee
captain David Boltzmann and his
team of Greg Pfaff, Kevin Ma-
goffin, Doug Luxton, Philip Mc-
Leod and Terry Ryckman.
The Preszcator trophy, em-
blematic of supremacy in the
bantam girls division was shared
by two teams of birds, the Spar-
rows and Chickadees. Grace Gil-
fillan made the joint presentation
to captains Joan Davis of the
Sparrows and Georgina Obre of
the Chickadees. Other members
of the Sparrows are Norma Jean
Penhale, Susan Brintnell, Valerie
Flynn and Kathy Campbell. Com-
pleting the Chickadee roster are
Veronica Haley, Hanna Mathers
and Cathy and Gail Fuller.
Pauline Brintnell awarded the
Weber trophy to bantam boy win-
ners, Harry McNeil, Michael
Hunter, Steven Thompson, John
Gould, Morley Obre and captain
Ricky Stagg.
The Kingpins captained by Jim
Brintnell and including Gary
Shipman, Richard Ottewell,
Trophies were plentiful as the Exeter minor bowling program closed
with the annual "hot dog feed" at the Legion hall, Monday. Members
of the Knock Em Downs, senior champs are shown at the back, from
left, Jack Darling, Judy Glover, Tim Wilcox, Marion Hearn and Bob
Moore. The Kingpins, best in the junior division are at the front,
