Again this year, the Canada
Manpower Centre at Goderich
is making plans to assist in the
recruitment of farm labour in
Huron County.
During the month of March,
a letter with questionnaire was
mailed to over 100 farmers in
Huron County in the hope of
obtaining advanced information
on the labour requirements for
the coming season.
As in the past few years,
arrangements have been made
to bring to Ontario a number
of workers for employment in
agriculture from Eastern Cana-
da, if the help required is not
A resolution from Colborne
Township Federation concerning
the advantages of a Community
College for Huron County in con-
junction with Centralia was pre-
sented to the Huron County Fed-
eration of Agriculture at its mon-
thly meeting on Wednesday.
The resolution recommended a
presentation from the Federation
to County Council and local mem-
bers of parliament.
The recommendation from the
executive re Humane Society was
endorsed by the meeting and this
will be presented to the O.F.A.
members meeting on Thursday.
Recommendation was as follows:
"We, the Huron County Fed-
available locally,
In an. effort to meet seasonal
requirements more adequately,
some workers were brought in
last year to supplement our farm
labour force in Huron County,
Over the past few years, many
local employers engaged in
agriculture have come to rely
on labour from the Maritime
Provinces, made available
through the Canada Manpower
Centre.
Already the movement of sea-
sonal workers for employment
on mixed and dairy farms in
Ontario has commenced. These
workers are now assisting with
eration of Agriculture recom-
mend to the G.F.A. they investi-
gate and study the possibility of
changing the administration of
power of the Society of Preven-
tion of Cruelty to Animals to a
government agency in large ani-
mal area."
Harvey Taylor reported on the
T.V. Programing meeting held in
Wingham. Dave Curzon, farm
editor of C.K.N.X. asked for
ideas on insight programs.
Colin Campbell, producer of
Focus on the Farm said that if
the federation had an idea they
would like to get across, the pro-
gram would help them.
A report of the Con-
vention held recently in Ottawa
was given by Robert McKercher
who announced the new president
for C.I.A. is Charles Huffman of
Harrow.

spring seeding.
As the season progresses, us-
ually the demand increases and it
becomes more difficult to re-
cruit sufficient help particularly
during the harvest period.
Mr, C. M. Jutras, Manager
of the Canada Manpower Centre
at Goderich, stated that in order
to assist his office in its all-out
effort to meet the needs of area
farmers, it is most important

An organization meeting will
be held for these two clubs on
