GRAND BEND
The Grand Bend Women's In-
stitute held its annual meeting
Thursday in the town hall with
a good attendance. Mrs, Harold
Walper presided for opening and
business.
Roll call was answered by
naming a change I would like fo
see made in WI procedure. The
motto "Use friendship as a draw-
ing account, but don't forget the
deposit', was given by Mrs. Well-
wood Gill. Mrs. Emery DesJar-
dine read a poem.
Reports were given by all con-
venors. Mrs. Ed Gill gave a
report of Board of directors
meeting at Hensall. Mrs. Leroy
Bariteau gave a report of Exeter
Hospital. Grand Bend WI was
invited to serve lunch May 9 at
the auxiliary meeting,
Mrs. Fred Beer, district pres-
ident, brought greetings and in-
stalled the officers for 1967-68.
Mrs. Elgin Webb brought in the
slate of officers.

Chuck Harmer slapped in what
proved to be the winner less than
two minutes later.
Ruthig notched his second of
the night and Parsons completed
his hat trick performance before
Harmer got the final goal of the
game at 18.59,
Tom Glavin. played a terrific
game in the Exeter nets,

Learning his golf in the Wind-
sor area from pros such as Bill
Fox Sr„ Ken has a vast know-
ledge of the game and will be
passing this on to club members,.
In attacking his new position,
Ken says. "We want to initiate
a strong junior program. We will
be approaching the public schools
in the area to attract youngsters
between the ages of 8 and 14,"
Junior activities will startSat-
urday. May 6 and continue each
Saturday until the end of June..
when the program will be extend-
ed. to every day of the week.
The new manager of the Aus-
able also reports that, "we will
be putting on a special drive to
obtain more ladies in our club,
Each female golfer will be en-
titled to four tree golf lessons
with her year's membership."
Continuing, Freebairn says,
"we hope to operate this sum-
mer like a golf club, rather
than ust a place to play golf,
Freebairn, out of the RCAF
since 1961, has been residing
in Grand Bend, but will be mov-
ing to the Exeter area late in
June and hopes to attend London
Teachers' College in the fall.
While stationed at Centralia
he was a top notch goal tender
on the station's all star hockey
team.
