Area square dancers ,graduate
Exeter Promenaders Square
Dance Club held their graduation
dance Saturday night, Fourteen
couples received their diplomas
and club pins. Two of the grad-
uating couples were from the
Clinton Crosstrailers,
There were fifteen squares
of dancers in the arena. Besides
members of the Exeter club,
there were dancers from Clinton,
Goderich, St. Marys, Zurich,
Brunner, and Grand Bend. Almost
the entire Seaforth Whirlaways
club was in attendance.
Besides square dances called
by the regular club caller, Earl
Bowles, there were calls by Norm
Whiting, Jack Fairfield, Egbert
Jacobs and Larry Steeves.
Before the presentation of dip-
lomas the graduating class ask-
ed a square of "experienced
dancers" to put on a demon-
stration of their ability. How-
ever, to make the task more
difficult, the men were fitted
with snowshoes. Later in the
evening, the club turned the
tables and had a square of new

A large group of couples received their graduation diplomas and
pins and became official members of the popular Exeter Promen-
aders Square Dance club at the arena, Saturday night. The success-

guson, Bill Moore, Ida McBride, Bob Crawford and Doris Deichert.

When the time came for the
presentation of diplomas, the
graduates promenaded into the
hall wearing black mortarboards,
Diplomas were presented by
caller-instructor Earl Bowles
and his wife, Marie. The grad-
uates were received into the
club by the members of the
executive, with the Crosstrailers
president receiving the two
couples into the Clinton club.
Couples graduating into the
Proxnenaders were: Helen and
Ross Jaques, Verna and Sam
Bower, Ida and Elmore McBride,
Helen and Harold Bell, Leona
and Clifton Jaques, Shirley and
Lloyd Ferguson, Joyce and John
Dickey, Helen and Mel Douglas,
Ola and John Batten, Dorothy
and Glenn Jeffery, Marion and
Ross Skinner and Doris and
Harold Deichert. New Clinton
Crosstrailers members are Eve
and Bill Moore and Jean and Bob
Crawford.
Coffee and sandwiches were
served following the dancing,
along with two beautifully dec-
orated graduation cakes.
In the seven years since Mr.
and Mrs. Bowles began calling
and teaching modern square
dancing, Saturday night's cere-
monies made a total of 506 danc-
ers to graduate under their in-
struction. Most of this number
were square dancers, but some
were graduates of round dance
classes.
The Promenaders' Centennial
project will be a chicken bar-
becue to be held in Riverview
Park on Wednesday, June 21,
from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Tickets

The congregation of St. Pat-
rick's Church, Saintsbury, held
a successful progressive euchre
and dance in the Lucan Mem-
orial Arena Friday evening.
Winners in the euchre were
Mr. A. Shannon, London, Mr.
D. Beatson, Granton, Mrs. R.
Greenlee, Exeter, Mrs. G. At-
kinson, Lucan.
PERSONALS
Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Cunning-
ham visited with relatives Mr.
and Mrs. Reg Craigie at Tober-
mory over the weekend.
Mrs. Ony McFalls, Lucan, was
a Sunday guest with Mr. and
Mrs. Harry Carroll.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Dobbs Sr.,
Exeter, spent Sunday with their
son, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Dobbs
Jr., and family.
Mrs. Earl Greenlee enter-
tained her bowling team at her
home Monday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Tindall and
girls visited with the former's
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Tindall, Grand Bend.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Barker were
guests Sunday with Mr. and Mrs.
Earl Atkinson, Lucan.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Noels,
Forest, spent the weekend with
their cousins, M r. and Mrs.
Heber Davis. Mr. and Mrs. Maur-
ice MacDonald, Lucan, joined
them Saturday.
They have one daughter, Mrs.
Jim Beckett, Kitchener; two sons,
Ralph Millson of London and
Gerald Millson, with his parents.
They also have seven grandchild-
ren and four great-grandchild-
ren. Tony was previously with Hunter-Duvar and Sons Ltd.

Mr. and Mrs. Millson were
married by Rev. R. H. Barnby
of Lucan at the bride's home,
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ashbury,
Lucan. Mr. Millson is a son of
the late Mr. and Mrs. George
Millson, Whalen.
They previously farmed retir-
ing to the village seven years
ago.
About forty members of the
Mrs. Lida Lamport family gath-
ered Sunday, April 9, to cele-
brate her 84th birthday.
She was the recipient of many
lovely and useful gifts and enjoys
the best of health.
A birthday dinner was enjoyed.

At the April meeting of Clan-
deboye WI held at the home of
Mrs. Karl O'Neil, Lucan, roll
call was answered by the payment
of fees and annual reports were
given.
In the election of officers Mrs.
Arnold Lewis was named presid-
ent for 1967-68, succeeding Mrs.
Andy Carter, who has taken up
residence in Exeter. She was pre-
sented with a cup and saucer in
appreciation of her leadership as
president. She invited the mem-
bers to hold the May meeting at
her home 449 Albert St., on the
evening of May 10.

to be entertained by them and
sample the foods the girls have
learned to make.

CELEBRATE 50 YEARS
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Mill-
son, Clandeboye, celebrated their
golden wedding anniversary with
a family dinner at Dufferin House,
Centralia, on Saturday and with
open house for friends and rela-
tives Tuesday afternoon and
evening.
