The Exeter Times-Advocate, 1967-04-20, Page 7—Continued from page 6 up the game and tie the series. Gary Parsons opened the scor- ing in the first stanza, slamming home Bill Fairbeirn'S rebound on a power play at 8,39. Fairbairn set up the first score by neatly stealing the puck from Orset Romashyna near the New Ham- burg blue line and getting a good shot away. Less than six minutes later, the Haling were back on even terms as Rick Falk's low screen- ed shot from the left point just caught the inside of the goal post behind Tom Glavin. A neat bit of stick handling by Dennis Morrissey gave the Hawks their second counter as he wig- gled in alone from near centre and evaded all defenders and found the left side of the net. An equally efficient display of puck handling by Roger Kropf produced the second New Ham- burg tally as time was fading in the second period. He moved in alone from centre and blasted a high shot into the Exeter cage while his team was enjoying a one man advantage. Play in the second period was wide open with both teams miss- ing golden scoring opportunities, but not able to score until the Hahns broke the game open with the quick trio of scores. Early in the period while Mark Bender was serving a tripping sentence, captain BobButhig took over in the capacity of a second goalie in clearing a loose puck away from the goal line with Hawks all around. In the next couple of seconds, Craig Chap- man bounced a hard shot off the goal post and Bill Chipchase was robbed by Goalie Tim Forler on Returning to the other end of the ice, Exeter's Mike Cushman duplicated Ruthig's feat by help- ing Glavin scoop away a loose puck. The turning point of the game came at 17.26 as the Hawk de- fence failed to clear and Charles Harmer was quick to take ad- vantage of the lapse and walked in to make the score 3-2. This quick turn of events seem- ed to stun the Hawks and the New Hamburg boys were out in front 5-2 on goals Dave Walkom and Bender. Gary Parsons' second goal of the night at the 4.57 mark of the final period of play cut the Hahn lead to 5-3 but this was as close as the Hawks were able to get. Romashyna, Ruthig, Don Cul- bert and Ron Mark scored in III Health? See your doctor first. The Crediton boys downed a stubborn crew of Bank Boys 8-5 in the fourth game of what start- ed out to be a best-of-three series. Each team had notched a win, while the third game ended in a 7-7 tie. The Tigers started out as if they really meant to wrap up the title quickly as they jumped into a 5-1 lead after about 10 minutes of play, Not giving up, the Bank Boys retaliated with a trio of counters and were able to cut their deficit to a single goal, Pat McKeever, one of three Crediton performers able to score twice, opened the scoring on the first rush down the ice as he was able to get about three whacks at his own rebound and find the net. Doug Galloway found a loose puck out in front of the Bankers' net Moments later and was able to up the score to 2-0. A soft pass from the right corner by Jim Pfaff that seemed to be rather harmless bounced off a Banker defenceman and into pay dirt and the Tigers were in front 3-0. The first Bank Boys marker came on a neat passing effort between Bob Jones and Lloyd Moore with the latter beating Jim Glavin in the Crediton nets. McKeever and Galloway re- turned with successive tallies. to complete their scoring for the night and up the score to 5-1. At this point the Bank Boys caught fire and were back in contention with three rapid fire scores. Bill Heywood notched the first as he was left loose in front of the Crediton cage. Although not getting as assist on the next Banker goal, Hey- wood was responsible for getting it underway. He sent a long pass from his own end up to Lloyd Moore at centre who in turn relayed to a flying Bob Jones, Jones raced in to take a shot and Frank Boyle was johnny- on-the-spot to bat in the re- bound. Moore shot his second goal of the game seconds later to bring the score to 5-4, - With the Bank Boys applying the pressure in an attempt to get the equalizer, Jim Morrissey Was able to break away and found the range to put Crediton ahead by two. Pfaff and Moore traded scores within 20 seconds of play late in the third and captain Bob Gallo- way picked up the insurance goal on a scramble around the op- position net. illifilltill111111111161111111111111111811111811111111811111111118,1111111111111111111111111111111111111911111811111111111111111111118111111111181111111111111111111111111181111111111111111111111111111111 ••••••• MO UR ••••,,w 111 oria2 1.11.11Id• •••• IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIItlitilliillillitillillillURIIIIIII11IIIIIIIIIIIIIItillUIRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII111111111111111111111111111111111111111i1111111111IIIIIIIIIII11111111111111111 RR (H.
