Exeter Legion Hall was a pop-
ular spot Saturday afternoon as
the annual spring rummage sale
sponsored by the Women's Hos-
pital Auxiliary got under way.
The hall was jammed with
eager buyers, merchandise was
plentiful and apparently priced
right, as there was very little
bargaining, and money flowed
freely. One clerk said she had
never seen so many twenty dol-
lar bills handed over the counter
especially when the customer
was buying a twenty-five cent
article.
The sale of furniture auctioned
by William H. Smith of Crediton
at 2 pm brought over $100. Mr.
Smith graciously donates his ser-
vices free for the Auxiliary, The
Oval Room of better dresses
was also a popular department
and sales were brisk.
The Auxiliary realized $1,145
