Neither type has left the farmer
in control.
Canadian farmers must com-
pete with producers in other
areas, notably the United States.
U.S. Farmers average 36% of
their income from Government;
Canadian farmers 3%.
We can compete with U, C.
farmers but I doubt we can suc-
cessfully compete with the U.S.
treasury.
Canadian farmers have tried
to improve their economic po-
sition by sane, sound, down to
earth, realistic, reasonable pro-
grams, but they have not succeed-
ed. Agriculture must have more
income. I sincerely hope this can
be achieved by reasonable meth-
ods.
I do not WANT to parade my
tractor on the highway; I do not
WANT to go on strike, However,
if reasonable methods will not
succeed, I am prepared to use
methods popular in other indus-
tries.
Yours sincerely,
