Proposed total expenditures of
$1,410,000 in 1967 were sub-
mitted in a roads committee re-
port, which was accepted by
council.
Total county funds required for
the program are $634,000. The
committee recommended that the
mill rate for road purposes be
left at last year's figure of 9.3
mills. This raises $632, 400 and
it is proposed to finance the pro-
gram with a theoretical estimated
deficit of $1,600.
County Engineer J. W. Brit-
nell reported t hat pre-engin-
eering and design work is pro-
ceeding on schedule for three
development roads in the central
and northern part of the county.
Delbert Geiger, Hay, chairman
of the roads committee, reported
that the county resolution re-
questing that the fair wage re-
quirements of the department
of labor be made optional rather
than mandatory was adopted by
Ontario Good Roads Association
at its recent convention.
He also commented that Mr.
Britnell had been elected a dir-
ector of the Association, and of-
fered his congratulations. This
is the first time Huron County
had been represented on the ex-
executive since 1927, he pointed
out.
The County Engineer informed
council the roads service staff
was sensative to criticism of
winter control and maintenance.
