The owner of the Joyce Beauty
Salon, Mrs. Peter Sovereign, was
the former Joyce MacDonald,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mau-
rice MacDonald of Butler St.
It will be 10 years in April
since she opened her first salon,
at the corner of Main and Water
St., in part of the building now
occupied by the Mansell Antique
Shop.
In 1961 she was married and
moved to London but continued
to operate part time in Lucan.
In 1962 she opened a new salon
in the basement of her parents'
home. In September 1966 Mr.
and Mrs. Sovereign purchased
their present location, the base-
ment of which was ideal for a
beauty salon.
Mr. and Mrs. Sovereign have
two small sons, Faron 5 and
Ferlin 4, so Mrs. Sovereign de-
cided it would be more convenient
to work in her own home.
Each visitor who attended Open
