cessfel searing play, but this t ime he was on the finishing end, flip-
ping in a pass from Morrissey.
At 15:05, ten seconds after Bur-
ton's score, Point Edward retale
sated with captain Keith McLean
banging in a rebound on a shot
by Fontaine,
It took the Hawks ANY 23 sec-
onds to get that one back, Mer-
rissey finding the range onaplay
started by Burton and Chipehase.
Early in the final session, the
teams traded single goals Wiese
than 20 seconds as the clock was
nearing the seven minute mark.
Gary Parsons was the Exeter
scorer, and the visiting marker
was contributed by Fred John-
ston.
The Hawks duplicated a feat
performed by the opposition ear-
lier, when Mike Cushman scored
on a beautiful solo effort with one
of his Mates in the sin bin at
10:05. Again retaliation was quick
as Randy Mair scored the final.
Point Edward goal in less than a
minute.
The last Exeter marker to
complete the 10-4 rout was net-
ted by Dennis Morrissey, giving
him a hat trick for the night and
a share of the scoring honors
with Gary Parsons.
Best in men's second draw
Winners of the Tuesday night division of the Exeter men's curling club second draw carried on to capture
the overall title. Caught by the camera only moments after disposing of their last opposition are the
champions. From left, Hugh Patterson, Bob Dinney, skip Bert Borland and Woodrow Davidson.

mercy for G & Q goalie Jim
Newby as they fired away at
him continuously and had little
trouble in running up the 16-6
Count,
Bob Jones was the top goal
producer for the "monied men"
scoring on no less than seven
occasions, enough goals to win
the game singlehandecily.
Pete MeFalls wasn't far be-
hind in a scoring way, collecting
a pair of hat tricks or a goal
total of six.
Completing the winners' ecor-
ing parede were Jim Russell,
Bill Heywood and Larry Stire,
counting in single fashion,
Doug Rollins was high man on
the Graham and Graham scoring
ladder, blinking the light three
times. Single goals were con-
tributed by Doug McBride, Tom
Watt and Jim McDonald.
In tying up the series, the
crediton club wasted little time
in getting going by scoring on
the very first play of the game.
Centre Bob Galloway won the
opening face-off, tipped the puck
over to his left winger,moved
over the blue line, took the re-
turn pass and waltzed into score,
Galloway scored another
marker later in the game to
share his club's scoring honours
with team-mate Pat McKeever,
Single Tiger counters were fired
by Eric Finkbeiner, Stan Lovie
and Jim Morrissey,
Bob Baynharn and Red Loader
were responsible for the Old
Timers complete game scoring
total with a single goal each to
their credit.
"Let's score all the goals we
can", seemed to be the thought
of most of the players in Thurs-
day's weekly action of the Exeter
Rec hockey league.
The goal judges and statis-
ticians were busy all night as
the Bank Boys trounced Graham
and Graham 16-6 and Crediton
Tigers outscored the Old Timers
7-2.
The Bank I3oys'win lifted them
into the play-for-fun loop final
against either Crediton or Old
Timers. Those two clubs are
now tied at a game apiece in a
best-of-three series and will play
the deciding game tonight, Thurs-
day at $ o'clock.

It took a perfect performance
on the final night of the regular
schedule to give the Hairpins un-
disputed possession of first place
in the Exeter Legion mixed dart

five points to up their season total

place finishing Itchy Four.

Featherflights vs Four B's
Canners vs Generals
Plenty of goals
Goals are scored quite often at the Exeter arena each Thursday night when participants in the local Rec
puck loop take to the ice. In the above action, Eric Finkbeiner of the Crediton Tigers at right is shown
firing the puck past Old Timers' back-up goalie Murray Brintnell while team-mate Dick Bennett tries
in vain to block the puck, This scoring play took place during the second game of a best-of-three semi-
final series. The same two clubs meet tonight with the winner facing the Bank Boys in the league final.
T-A photo
Spurred pn by the cheers of
close to 300 Exeter fans, the
Hawks came on strong in the
third period in Point Edward,
Thursday, to down the Redmen
7-5 and force the fifth game on
Exeter ice.
With the score tied 3-3 with
about seven minutes gone in the
final period, a, terrific three goal
scoring splurge by Gary Parsons
in less than four minutes pro-
pelled the Hawks to the must win.
The first period was full of
action with five penalties going
to each club arid plenty of pres-
sure put on when one of the
clubs was shorthanded.
The home team were first on
the scoreboard with the league's
top scorer, Len Fontaine, doing
the honors at 11:48 from a scram-
ble in front of the Exeter net,
Persistence paid off for the
Exeter club near the 17 minute
mark. With a team mate in the
penalty box, defenceman Ron
Broderick broke up a Point Ed-
ward rush at his own blue line,
shot the puck out to centre and
raced after it. He was able to
pick it up near the opposing blue
line and carried right in to score
a beautiful goal.
Only a minute later, the Hawks
again put on the pressure and
Mike Cushman was able to bat
the rubber home on a scramble
in front of the Point Edward net
with Broderick and Parsons pro-
viding the help.
The home team roared back
quickly in the second to score
twice and take a temporary lead.
Fontaine scored his second of
the night at 10:43 and only 35
seconds later Bill Chivers was
in the right spot to beat Tom
Glavin in the Exeter nets.
When one team scored, the
other seemed to get the same
notion and only a minute after
Chivers' counter Cushman was
back with his second of the game
on a solo effort to send the
teams to the second rest tied
3-3.
The performance of Gary Par-
sons in the third period was sen-
sational as he had injured his
ankle earlier in the game and
seemed to be limping quite badly.
He hit the scoresheet for the
first time with a wicked slap
shot at 7:46 only to have Mike
Bolton of the home club even
things again only moments later.
Probably the nicest passing
play of the night resulted in the
fifth Exeter goal and put them in
front to stay. Bill Chipchase was
on the scoring end of the criss-
cross effort that included line-
mates Paul Young and Dennis
Morrissey.
