The SH juniors, trailing by
nine points going into the final
quarter, put up a good fight but
could only come within two points
of knotting the score in Wingham,
Tuesday.
Ross Huff and Barry Bayn-
ham led the last period Panther
drive each firing in four good
shots from the floor. They came
up with respective game point
scores of 20 and 17.
John Loader aided the local
cause with a seven point per-
formance.
In the double loss to Mitchell,
the SHDHS boys in each game
fell well behind in the first half
and could not get close.
Hans zeehuisen and Don Wolfe
were the top senior scorers with
respective game totals of 12 and
11. Uilke Nagel and Bill Far-
quhar each contributed eight.
Barry Baynham was by far

scoring department garnering a
total of 20 points, Ross Huff was

their top performers, UilkeNag-
el, was forced to the sidelines
because of fouls. This weakened
the club considerably and Wing-
ham came back to tie the count
at 42-42 with less than a minute
to go.
As time was running out, a
Wingham performer was called
on a foul and Don Wolfe of the
Exeter five stepped to the free
throw line with the outcome of
the game in his hands. He calmly
flipped two free shots through the
hoop to pull out the Exeter vict-

Wolfe was the top SH scorer,
netting a total of 12 points, while

scoring mood, losing 24-9.
Both local girls clubs will be
at home to Stratford Central in
a double bill, Friday. At the same
time the boys teams will be
travelling to Stratford to play
Central in a pair of games.
In the senior contest, the local
girls scored 12 points in the third
quarter to take a 19-11 lead, but
were hard pressed in the final
minutes to preserve a three point
edge at the finish.
Brenda Dinney and pam Graves
were the top SH scorers, flipping
in 10 and 9 points, respectively.
Judy Rath aided the winning cause
with three field goals to her
credit.
In dropping the junior contest
to Wingham 24-9, the girls from
South Huron failed to hit the
basket from the floor, getting all
their points as the result of suc-
cessful tosses from the free
throw line.
Julia Heywood proved to be
best from the four line, dropping
in five, while Carol Lyn Shapton
hit on two occasions and Martha
Kneale and Jane Tuckey hit on
single tries.

The senior Panthers came up
with a superb team effort in
hanging up their first win in
Wingham Tuesday afternoon by
a 44-42 count with the winning
points being tossed in the dying
moments of the game.
The same afternoon, the ju-
niors came on strong in the last
quarter but failed to nail down a
win by a whisker as the Wingham
school youngsters triumphed 46-
44.
Friday afternoon both South
Huron clubs suffered defeats on
their home floor to hoopsters
from the Mitchell high school.
