About 250 persons attended the
annual Christmas party of Gen-
eral Coach Works of Canada Ltd.
at the Exeter LegionHall,
The office and production em-
ployees were accompanied by
their wives and husbands to the
event, which consisted of a dinner
and a dance.
At the event, 11 employees
were presented with gold watches
in recognition of 10 years' con-
tinual service with the firm.
Recipients were: David Millar,
William Kelley, EarlGass, Nich-
olas Heykoop, Frank Smale, Na-
poleon Bedard, Alphonse Gren-
ier, Logan Cleave, Jack Smale,
Andrew 'manse and AlfredSmith.
Jack Geary, plant manager,
made the presentations assisted

The 40th wedding anniversary
of Mr. & Mrs. Roy MacDonald
was celebrated by the neighbours
Friday evening Dec. 30 at the
home of Mr. & Mrs. Carter Ker-
slake.
Court whist was played with
prizes going to Mr. & Mrs. Lorne
Fell, Mrs. Roy MacDonald, Mrs.
Alf Ross and Cliff Miller. Spencer
Jeffery read an address of good
wishes and Gordon Hoggarth and
Carter Kerslake presented the
esteemed couple with a wall clock
and smoker stand.

bag. Eleanor Kemp explained the
procedures at Achievement Day.
Everyone viewed the girls' re-
cord books.
Mrs. Daynard passed tea and
lunch was served by the girls.
Courtesy remarks were given
by Mrs. Carter Kerslake and
Mrs. Art Kemp on behalf of the
Staffa Institute members and
mothers present.

tea in the Family Life Centre.

Staffa WI held its Christmas
meeting Wednesday afternoon,
Dec. 28 at the home of Mrs:
Garnet Taylor.
Mrs. Cecil Bowman presided
and opened the meeting. The
motto - "I do not fear what
next year shall bring, when God
giveth light for the journey"
was taken by Mrs. Bowman, re-
peating part of King George's
Christmas message to the com-
monwealth in 1939, telling that
those now famous words ( I said
to the man etc.) were taken from
a poem written by Anne Louise
Haskins entitled "God Knows."
T went y- one members an-
swered the roll call, "Are res-
olutions worthwhile and why?"
All members contributed to the
program with readings, jokes
and instrumentals.
Mrs. Carter Kerslake pre-
sided for the business. Mem-
bers were reminded of the 4-H
achievement day in Mitchell Dis-
trict High School January 21 and
the summary day for "More
About Finishes" in Milverton,
January 24. A letter was read
telling the members the pro-
gress of their adopted child in
Hong Kong.
A motion was accepted that
the Institute purchase two pic-
tures one of Queen Elizabeth and
one of Prince Philip to com-
pliment the new flag which they
have purchased for the Hibbert
Township hall. Plans were made
for a euchre party to be held at
the home of Mr. & Mrs. George
Vivian January 13 with Circle II
in charge of arrangements. An
exchange of gifts and the identi-
fication of one's secret pal fol-
lowed.
Names were drawn for the com-
ing year following the close of
the meeting. Christmas dainties
were served by the committee
in charge.
