Couple wed
50 years
Mr. and Mrs. William Cole
marked their 50th wedding an-
niversary, December 28 and will
celebrate with open house Sat-
urday, January 7.
Mrs. Cole was the f or m er
Annie Eyre of Tuckersmith and
they were married by Rev. Smith
of Hensall. They farmed in Hib-
bert until retiring to Hensall in
1948. They have one son, Alvin
of Hibbert and two grandchildren.
Mr. Cole is a resident at
Huronview and will be returning
home for open house.

treated all former residents of
their area.
All this combined with the
gifts of many individual friends
and relatives made this Christ-
mas one long to be remembered.
The personal calls and cards
make our residents feel they are
not forgotten and that they are
still a part of the community.
My personal thanks for the
many floral tributes sent to the
Home during the past year. They
were appreciated by the resi-
dents and helped to add a little
beauty to the surroundings.

Vestry session

St. Paul's WA met Wednesday,
December 21 at the home of
Mrs. Barrie Jackson. Delicious
desserts were served, each
member bringing her favorite.
The president Mrs. Annie Reid
opened the meeting and the Rector
Rey. J. P. Gandon presented a
further chapter of the study book,
"The Church grows in Canada",
and a discussion period followed.
The rector presided over the
election of officers for 1967. Pre-
sident is Mrs. Thomas Lavender;
secretary-treasurer, Mrs. Bar-
rie Jackson; and prayer partner's
secretary, Mrs. Mary Taylor.
Plans were made for the day
Of the Confirmation and Vestry
meeting January 22, and all those
attending the Confirmation were
invited to remain for the pot luck
supper with the Bishop.
A plate of desserts was de-
livered to each shut-in instead of
the usual plant.

Students home for the holiday

One hundred strokes of the
bell in the EUB Church tower
marked the beginning of Can-
ada's centennial year-

Saturday, December 31 in the
Crediton cemetery interment was
held for Mr, Israel Gaiser, for-
mer Crediton resident.
When he lived in Crediton he
worked for several farmers.
Later he was employed by Re-
ther's Restaurant, Exeter. Since
retirement he has been at Huron-
view Home, Clinton.
He died in South Huron Hos-
pital where he had been a patient
only two days.
Hopper-Hockey funeral home,
Exeter were in charge of funeral
arrangements.
WEBB REUNION
The annual Webb reunion was
held New Years Day in the Town-
ship Community Hall, Crediton,
with an attendance of ninety-
five, the largest gathering of
the family to date.
Officers for next year were
chosen. President is Ron Cruth-
ers; sec-treasurer, Dwayne Mc-
Linchey; program committee is
the first generation of the family.
Members were present from
Lincoln Park, Trenton and Port
Huron, Michigan; and Thedford,
Petrolia, Parkhill, Grand Bend,
Dashwood, Zurich, Clinton, Exe-
ter and Crediton.
Mr. & Mrs. Robert Hilborn and
Cathy of Belleville spent a week
at the home of Mrs. Elizabeth
Faist and Nola.

Knight officially turned on the
switch for a Canadian flag lit
with 295 bulbs flying from the
belfry of the town hall.
The flag is 11 feet by 5 1/2
feet and is a permanent fixture
coming on each evening with Hen-
sail's street lights. The flag was
donated by the Hensall Public
Utilities Commission and is its
centennial project.

The devotional was presented
by Mrs. James McAllister who
presided for the meeting, as-

Allister read a Christmas letter
from Miss Florence Clark, mis-
sionary in Trinidad. R eports
from conveners of all committees
were read depicting their year's
activities. In the Finance report
by Mrs. Spencer it was disclosed
that the budget and allocation for
1966 were exceeded. Mrs. V. M.
Pyette presided for the election
and Mrs. Currie took ,the chair
for the business portion of the
meeting.
Several of Miss Greta Lam-
mie's pupils performed, Sherry
Travers and CarmenCurrie sang
a carol; Linda Beer, a piano solo;
Paul Reaburn, Pat Joynt and
Ross Alexander, a piano trio.

for Exeter pair
Mr. and Mrs. David Blackwell
held a family dinner January 2
in honor of the 55th wedding
anniversary of Mr. and Mrs.
Charles W. Miller, Exeter, which
was January I. All the members
of their family, also all grand-
c hi ld r en and their one great
granddaughter were able to at-
tend numbering 27. Mr, and Mrs.
Wm. T. Blackwell, Lansing,
Mich., whose 38th wedding an-
niversary was Jan. 1 also at-
tended.
District woman
dies in Clinton
Mrs. Eldon Jarrott, 59, Bruce-
field, formerly of the Kippen
area, died in Clinton Public Hos-
pital, Tuesday evening, January
3.
She was the former Olive M.
Anderson and she and her hus-
band farmed near Kippen until
retiring to Brucefield.
Surviving besides her husband
are two daughters: Mrs. Donovan
(Marie) Brunslow, Exeter; and
Mrs. Maurice (Ruth) Haist, RR 2
Centralia; one sister, Mrs. Ro-
bert (Frances) Upshall, Egmond-
ville; two brothers, Emerson and
John Anderson, RR 2 Hensall,
and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held
from the Bonthron funeral chapel,
Hensall, Friday, January 6 at
2 pm with Rev. E. Donald Stuart
officiating. Interment will be in
Bayfield cemetery.
