At the vesper service of Lucan-clandeboye
CGIT in Lucan UC Sunday night the stained
glass window, the project of the group since
1963, was dedicated by Rev. G. W. Sach. Leader

Friday night the Young People
"The Life-liners" staged a beau-
tiful Christmas play "Babe of
Bethlehem", with the following
cast: Aaron, Paul Graham; his
mother, Mrs. Leland Neuen; his
sister, Mrs. John Armitage; Jo-
seph, Mr. John Armitage; Mary,
Joyce Butler; shepherd, Mr. Le-
land Neuen; angel, Donna Gard-
iner; soldier, Peter Butler.
All did their part well but
Paul Graham's performance was
outstanding.
Between scenes Nancy Weller,
Sterling Gardiner and Bruc e
Currie sang a trio number.
ANGLICAN
The Ladies' Guild met in the
P arish Hall last Wednesday
afternoon, with the president,
Mrs, Charles Haggar, in the
chair and Mrs. Erwin Scott
reading the Christmas story.
After the annual financial re-
port was made, most of the
meeting was taken up with de-
ciding how best to allot the net
yearly proceeds.

gifts of fur, berries and toys.
Joan Lewis, Jane Hodgson,
Sherry Fisher and Helen Ship-
way took up the collection, which
amounted to $25,74 for the vesper
service and $69 for the new
window.
group asked for the privilege of
appearing on this program.
The members unanimously a-
greed to help a needy family
enjoy a happier Christmas by
providing them with gifts. A com-
mittee of Marlene Butler, Lori
Crudge, Sherry Fisher and Betty
Park was named to make the
necessary arrangements.
Final plans were made for the
vesper service and unveiling of
the stained-glass window Decem-
ber 18,
The Christmas worship service
was led by Grace Smith and
Jane Hodgson, which included
the story of "The First Xmas
Tree". The members then sep-
arated into groups for Bible
study.

At the annual Lucan-Clande-
boye COTT Vesper Service, Sun-
day evening the Rev. Q. W. Seen
dedicated the branch's stained
glass window.
Helen Lewis, who missed only
one meeting in her eight years
as Explorer and CGIT and Louise
Cochrane, the first graduate and
assistant leader during 1964, bad
the honor of unveiling the window.
Since the window project began
on June 24, 1963 the group raised
$596.00 with $198 being contri-
buted by CGIT friends and inter-
ested organizations. Sunday's
collection of $60 left only a debt
of $25 to be yet met. Explorers,
CGIT and aliC members helped
to fill the church.
President Heather Froats led
in the vesper service. She was
assisted by Leslie Carling and
Jane Corbett as readers and
Pat Smith as candle lighter,
A large wigwam made by Mr.
R. B, Worthington filled the
centre of the sanctuary for an
Indian skit.
In the wigwam were Grace
Smith as mother (with her babe)
and Wendy Cronkite as father.

CGIT MAKE PLANS
At a meeting of the COLT in
the United Church schoolroom
last Tuesday evening, it was
announced that the CGIT and
Explorers would be responsible
for the centennial Youth pro-
gram March 31, the theme to be
based on the North-west Ter-
ritories and Yukon.
Plans were discussed for a
Christmas tour of the University
of Western Ontario, leaving the
church by bus at 10 am, Wed-
nesday, December 28. After lunch
at the cafeteria, the group will
take in a show down town.
A letter was read, stating the
CGIT would appear for taping
on the TV program, "Act Fast",
June 17. "All things come to
those who wait", for it will be
three years in March since the for your friendly patron-
age during the past year.

After a Christmas paper by
Mrs. Hardy, carols were sung,
followed by short papers by Mrs.
Sheridan Revington, Mrs. Stew-
art park, Mrs. John Park and
Mrs. Murray Hodgins, Mrs. Park
conducted a word-forming con-
test from "Merry Christmas",
which was won by Mrs. Cecil
Robb.
The program committee was
comprised of Mrs. John Park,
Mrs. Frank Jolliffe and Mrs.
Frank Hardy (Mrs. Jolliffe was
absent).
Each member brought Christ-
mas cake and cookies for re-
freshments.

The Lucan-Clancleboye Ex-
plorers held their C hr is tm as
meeting in the schoolroom last
Monday evening, withKaren Her-
bert presiding.
Counsellor Mrs. Ross McRob-
erts opened the meeting with a
story about "Carols" which was
followed by the singing of carols.
The worship service and the
reading of two poems were taken
by Karen Herbert. Counsellor
Mrs. Wm. Froats, read a story.
plans were made for a pot-
luck supper, Thursday evening;
to be followed by the singing of
carols to all shut-ins.
It was decided to attend the
CGIT vesper service in a body
Sunday.
The meeting closed with the
craft period, when family place-
cards were made.

CHURCH SERVICE
In lieu of the regular morning
service the beautiful 'Nine Les-
son Carol Service" was held.
The flowers in the church were
in memory of Mr. John Hewitt,
and the late Mr. and Mrs. Mi-
chael Haskett.
At 11 pm Christmas eve there
will be a carol service followed
by holy communion.
Christmas Day there will be
quiet communion at 10 am follow-
ed by the 11 o'clock service but
no Sunday School nor League of
Loyalty.
SUNDAY SCHOOL PARTY
At 2 pm Sunday the SS had
their Christmas party. The ju-
niors had games in the Parish
Hall, while the seniors had char-
ades in the basement,
After hot chocolate and dough-
nuts for all in the basement,
all returned to the Parish Hall
where Mike Culbert and Gordon
Hardy assisted the superintend-
ent, Mr. Dwight Henderson, dis-
tribute the gifts from a brightly
lighted Christmas tree.
UNITED
At a pot luck supper in the
schoolroom, last Wednesday, the
Rev. G. W. Sach installed the
Couples' Club Fellowship of-
ficers. Honorary presidents are
Rev. and Mrs. G. W. Sach; past
presidents, Mr. and Mrs. Jim
Lockyer; presidents, Mr. and
Mrs. FredSuter; vice presidents,
Mr. and Mrs. Ed, Melanson; sec-
retaries, Mr. and Mrs. To m
Barr; treasurers. Mr. and Mrs.
Don Maguire; membership, Mr.
and Mrs. Don Lankin.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Suter, Mr.
and Mrs. Don Abbott, Mr. and
Mrs. Don Lankin and Mr. and
Mrs. George Carpenter, were in
charge of the supper arrange-
ment and the worship service.
The comic verses, which ac-
companied the exchange of gifts
caused much amusement. Those
receiving the most humorous
verses were Mr. Cliff Cronkite,
Mr. Harold Butler and Mr.Stew-
art McLelland,
A report was made of the
annual dance, the large net re-
ceipts of which will go to the
building fund.

Without heat

Owing to no heat in the Scout
Hall Friday evening, the meeting
had to be curtailed. However the
4th circle semaphore was taught
to the 24 cubs present. The
leader's nephew, Mr. Wayne Cole
of Ingersoll, was present and
took several lively games with
the boys to keep them warm.
Sandy Lechie received his
Pet-keepers badge, for having
had complete care of a dog for
three months and Mike Nagle
received a Team-players badge,
for three months perfect at-
tendance, as a Squirt hockey play-
er.
Derek Holmes and Scott Leckie
have completed their Tenderpad
work and will be invested at the
next meeting, which will not be
till Jan. 6, 1967.
At 8 pm all went over to the
Shamrock Restaurant for potato
chips and hot chocolate, where
the large group were commend-
ed on for their good behavior.
THE NOSE was made for
breathing and smelling, not pok-
ing into other peopleos business.
