Women held their Christmas
meeting Tuesday, December 13
which was opened by the presi-
dent Mrs. R. Taylor Jr.
Mrs. Ben Stoneman led the
worship with a Canadian Friend-
ship Carol Service assisted by
Mrs. Wm. Brintnell, Mrs. Alf
Ross, Mrs. Ed Dick, Mrs. Tom
Brintnell and Mrs. Harold Par-
ker, each lighting a candle to
represent different countries fol-
lowed by their carols. Mrs. Rus-
sell Brock offered the missionary
Mrs. Alex Mousseau, Mrs.
Richard Taylor Jr., Mr. and
Mrs. Donald Mousseau and Jon,
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Mousseau
and Barry and Mrs. Ezra Kipfer
attended the Oesch-Stamp wed-
ding at Batavia, N.Y. last Sat-
urday.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Grune of
London were recent visitors with
the former's brother-in-law and
sister, Mr. and Mrs. Bev Beaton.
Mr. and Mrs. Doug Daley and
Steven of London visited last
week with Mr. and Mrs. Harold
Parker and Patsy.
Mrs. Grace Harpole left last
week to spend the winter months
with her son-in-law and daughter,
Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Peacock
and family at Stittsville.
Mrs. Edna Corbett visited this

decorations and corsages. She
had a marvelous display. Mrs.
Edna Caldwell demonstrated the
making of variety cookies, she
also showed the ladies her candy
and cookie house which was il-
lustrated in the weekend mag-

Christmas story. Santa arrived
to distribute gifts and he was
assisted by Mrs. Cecil Pullman,
Mrs. Glenn Bell gave courtesy
remarks after which lunch was
served by the hostesses and the
committee in charge.

tient in St. Joseph's Hospital,
London.
Mr. & Mrs. Terry North and
Teresa of St. Thomas spent the
weekend with Mr. & Mrs. Harry
Snell.

A skit "Christmas in Fantasy
Land" was a highlight of the
Christmas meeting of Hensall
Womens Institute held last Wed-
nesday evening, December 14.
portraying the roles were Mrs.
V. M. Pyette, Mrs. Bob Elgie,
Mrs. Harry Horton, Mrs. R. M.
peck, Mrs. Walker Celine, Mrs.
Rodger Venner, M-s. Pearl
Koehler and Mrs. Carl Payne.
Miss Mattie Ellis gave a read-
ing "Christmas Shopping" and
Miss Greta L a m rn i e directed
carol singing.
For their centennial project
the group decided to have a
blossom tea in May, A draw
for a Christmas card holder
made by Mrs. R. M. Peck was
won by Mrs. Elgie. Roll call
was show a handmade Christ-
mas gift.
President Mrs. Beverly Bea-
ton presided for the business
and Mrs. Carl Payne for the
program. Christmas lunch was
served, Program convenors were
Mrs. Carl Payne, Mrs. Rodger
Venner; hostesses, Mrs. Clar-
ence Reid, Mrs. Fred Beer.
Gives tips
on flowers
The Christmas meeting of Kip-
pen East Women's Institute was
held at the home of Mrs. Ernest
Whitehouse with Mrs. Robert Bell
as co-hostess Wednesday after-
noon Dec. 14. The president Mrs.
Grant MacLean chaired the meet-
ing which she opened with a read-
ing. The roll call was answered
by telling where to keep Christ-
mas cards.
It was decided that the eighth
group would look after the Des-
sert Euchre in January and that
a euchre party would also be
held February 17. Mrs. Grant
MacLean reported for the His-
torical Research committee and
gave a reading on "The Day
after Christmas".
Mrs. Wm. Gibson gave the
motto "It isn't the giver who
makes Christmas, it's the spirit
of others. Songs were sung by
Sandra and Jeffrey McKay and
Eileen Connolly and StephenSar-
aras gave a recitation.
Mrs. Pipe of Londesboro gave

Presbyterian Church presented
a Christmas program in the
church sanctuary following
church service Sunday morning,
Numbers from different classes,
recitations and choruses made up
the program. White gifts were
also presented for the London
Orphanage.

Messengers had their regular
meeting with thirteen children
present. Mrs. C. Christie and
Mrs, C. Pepper had a special
devotional for Christmas with
suitable religious decorations.
The children decorated Christ-
mas stocking during the recrea-
tional period.
The United Church Sunda y
School White Gift service was
held Sunday evening with the
service conducted by John God-
dard with prayer by Tom Trav-
ers, scripture by Donna For-
rest, and the story by Mrs.
Robert Cook. The junior choir

Salvation Army
Mrs. John Baker was hostess
for the Christmas meeting of the
Kinette Club at her home Wed-
nesday evening, December 14.
During the business session a
donation was made to the Sal-
vation Army at London.
Mrs. Ron Wareing and Mrs.
Harold Caldwell were presented
with birthday gifts and Mrs. Ken
Chuttleburg of Hensall was a
guest for the evening.
A social hour was enjoyed.
