A letter to a friend:
Exeter, you're the greatest
Dear Exeter,
My heart and thoughts are full
of mixed emotions and so I am
taking pen in hand and writing
them down and sending them to
you.
perhaps its the time of year
that sparks such deep feeling for
people and places, but there is no
better time to express love and
sincere thanks for ones many
blessings, and so I am cioint; to
try and send mine to you.
So many of the people who
are a part of you are willing to
overlook the good in you and
see Only your faults --faults
that are so minor in comparison
to those suffered In so many
other towns in other countries
throughout the world.
So many people, — yes even
have complained about:
—the cost of food, not stop-
ping to be thankful we can eat
and eat well
-- the cost of clothes, not being
greatful for being warm
— the price we pay to live here,
not being satisfied that we have
a roof over our heads to keep out
the weather and heat to keep
us warm and a bedroom inside in
which we can rest In Peace each
night without being harmed by
falling bombs.
Yes, and so many criticize you
for a broken sidewalk and rough
roads, when we should get down
on our knees and thank God we
can walk any street at any hour
of day or night regardless of the
color of our skin without fear
and be accepted as an equal human
being by all.
And we scorn your school and
staff never being greatful that
our children do not have to grow
up ignorant, but with a little effort
on their part can become any-
thing they have the ambition to
become. That they can choose for
themselves if they wish to be a
success or failure in life.
And since this is the Christ-
mas season I wish and thank
you Exeter, for the many church-
es that I may choose where and
how I wish to worship, instead of
living in fear of even expressing
my belief in God.
Yes, Exeter, you have a friend
and this is my Christmas card to
you, and since this is the season
when gifts are exchanged I wish
to thank you for the gift of just
being a part of you, and may I
give you enough support in the
coming year to be worthy of
what I have received.
Merry Christmas Exeter to
you and all your dependants.
Thank you for letting me be a
part of you and may the New
Year bring us even closer to-
gether that each and every mem-
ber of my family and yours may
be enriched by our relationship.
Yes, Merry Christmas Exeter
and to you and yours a Pros-
perous and truly grateful New
Year.
Sincerely
A Close Friend.

Judging will be most difficult
Some people facing a difficult task this weekend will be the judges chosen to pick out the best decorated
homes in Exeter. An ever-increasing number of persons are decorating homes each year. Shown above
are the homes of Glen Northcott and Cpl. Harry Van Bergen, which combine to create a spectacular
sight on Andrew Street. T-A photo
