Membership of youngsters in
the Exeter Figure skating club
for the 1966-67 season has risen
to 95, two more than a year ago.
This report was given by rec
director and arena manager Alvin
Willert at Monday's r eggla r
meeting of RAP,
Due to a. large number of the
membership being of beginners'
age, instruction classes have
been extended for an extra hour
each Monday,
The instructress, Mrs. Faye
Love, tutors the youngsters from
4 to 10:15 each Monday. Due to
the extra time Involved her sal-
ary has been increased to $40
per week,
The annual carnival presented
by the figure skaters will be
presented February 18, as one of
the Centennial attractions pro-
"The Gift that Keeps on Giving"
rooted by RAP, who are in eharge
for the Meth of February,
A suggestion was made that a
week before or after, a monster
Minor hockey program be held..
This would start early in the
afternoon with four or five of the
all star Chiba from Exeter meet-
ing outside teams in exhibition
games and winding up with a
junior contest later in the even-
ing.
Considerable time was spent
on discussion of possible repair
to the roof at the arena.
Sill Gilfillan reported that the
roof of Milverton arena, which is
similar to the local ice palace,
has been completely restored at
a cost of about $13,000.
Decision on possible steps to
stop the considerable leaking that
is occurring will be deferredun-
til spring and a close eye will
be kept on the way the Milver-
ton roof holds up.
Secretary Eric Carscadden re-
ported that some of the trophies
received from CFB Centralia,
when that base closed, have been
disposed of to local sporting
groups,
Any sports organization need-
ing a trophy to be presented for
local competition only is asked
to contact Carscadden as several
are still left at the town office.
Will ert reported that a flag pole
is being installed at the swim-
ming pool and The Teen Town
are puchasing a Centennial flag.
Wild scramble for puck
Friday's junior hockey game at the arena was the most exciting contest seen locally

Minors falter,
drop all three
Fortunes of the three Exeter
minor hockey clubs playing in
the Shamrock league were at
a low ebb after taking a trio
of beatings by the visitors from
Stoneybrook at the local arena,
Wednesday.
The pee wees were downed
3-1 in the opener, the bantams
dropped a close 2-1 decision and
the midgets were outscored '7-3.
The lone Exeter goal in the
pee wee loss was fired by Peter
Kleinstiver on an unassisted ef-
fort early in the third period.
Jack Harding of Stoneybrook
and Jim Guenther of the Exeter
club were the only scorers in
the bantam contest but the Lon-
don area youngster scored twice
to give his club their 2-1 dec-
ision.
' A smooth pass ing attack
seemed to be the difference in
the 7-3 Stoneybrook win in the
midget outing.
Don Stead, Ron Smith and Eric
Parkinson led the winning at-
tack with two goals each while
Jim Gilpin added the odd count-
er.
John Loader, Bill Fairbairn
and Ron Janke were responsible
for the marksmanship in the
losing Exeter cause.

First draw activities in the Ex-
eter Ladies' curling club are con-
cluding this week and a couple of
battles for top spot are shaping
up.
The only sure winner seems to
be Edna Busche and her four-
some who compete on Wednesday.
The Busche controlled crew are
undefeated to date with 46 points
to their credit, and with a 12 point
spread and only one game to go,
should be a shoo-in.
At the moment Helen Frayne's
rink is leading the Tuesday night
division with a three-point mar-
gin over runner-up Janie Mc-
Dowell.
Three rinks are still in con-
tention for Thursday honors, each
with only one loss to blemish its
record. Mary Fran Gaiser has
her aggregation a nose in front
with 46 points. The Alma Ether-
ington skipped four are but two
points back with Helen Burton's
one out-
opponents.

Competition in the Exeter
Men's curling league continues to
be keen. A week ago two of the
divisions had co-leaders. Now the
deadlocks have been broken in the
Tuesday and Thursday sections
and a new rink has emerged to
the top in Monday action.
Jack Gaiser's foursome have
accumulated a total of 48 season
points good for first spot, one
point more than challenger Lee
Webber in the first night of the
week action.
A Tuesday night rink skipped
by King McDonald have again
moved into Sole possession of the
top rung in their division.
Almer Passmore and his
sweeping cohorts are sitting at
the top of the Thursday heap with
a total of 58 points and a com-
fortable margin over runner-up
Ross Marshall and his crew.
