Long distance calls were made by many rel- atives who could not be present. Sixty years ago Milton Russell and Clara Dunsford were married at the home of her parents, the late Mr. & Mrs. Wm. Dunsford, Lake Road, Exeter. For thirty- four years they farmed Lone Elm Farm, Concession 2, Hay Township. This homestead had been cleared by the late James Russell who emigrated from Scotland i n 1841. Since t h e couples' retirement in 1940, it has been operated by their son, a fourth generation. Mr. & Mrs. Russell are in their eighties and thoroughly en- joyed the reunion with everyone. Sunday, December 11, Mr. & Mrs. Milton M. Russell, Hensall, were at home on the occasion of their diamond wedding anniver- sary. During the afternoon and evening many relatives and friends called to offer congratu- lations. Tea, coffee and punch were served from an attractively arranged table complete with the traditional wedding cake. Present were their five children, son Homer and his wife, M r s. Donald Wilson (Isabel), Tucson, Ariz., Mr. & Mrs. Le Roy Coleman (Margaret), Blenheim, Mrs. Harry Bossenberry (Irene), Grand Bend, and Mr. & Mrs. Donald Joynt (Audrey), Hensall, There are fifteen grand-children a n d five great grandchildren, several of whom also attended. Messages were sent by Queen Elizabeth, Prime Minister Pear- son, John Diefenbaker L.O., Premier Robarts, Robert Mc- Kinley MP and Charles Mc- The annual Christmas party for children of the village and district was held Saturday. Santa arrived in the fire truck and was given a rousing reception by the children and adults. Three hundred and fifty bags of potato chips, chocolate bars and same of chocolate milk, the latter donated by Hurondale Dairy, were handed out by clerk Earl Campbell and Chief of Po- lice E. R. Davis, assisted by the Senior Citizens. Free films were shown in the town hall in charge of Kinsmen Bill Fuss. She was the former Ethel Maulkinson, a native of England. An active member of St. Paul's Anglican Church she was a former pre- sident of the WA. Up until 1963, she held the office of secretary- treasurer. She was a member of the choir, and co,.ducted the Sun- day School for several years, and was interested in all phases of the church. She was a former member of Hensall WI. Surviving are her husband and one daughter, Mary, at home. Public funeral services largely attended were held from the Bon- thron Funeral Home, Monday De- cember 12, Rev. J. P. Gandon de- livering the memorial message and paying high tribute to the life of the deceased. Burial was in Hensall Union cemetery. Bearers were R. H. President is Mrs. Harold Campbell; vice-presidents, Mrs. Garnet Allan, Mrs. Roland Van- stone; secretary, Mrs. W. H. Bell; treasurer, Mrs. Grant Bis- back; executive, Mrs. Mary Tay- lor, Mrs. John Skea, Mrs. Gord- on Munn, Mrs. Byran Kyle, Mrs. E. Davis; sgt at amrs, Mrs. Harry Horton; assistant, Mrs. Garnet Allan; pianist, Mrs. Ed Munn; sports committee, Mrs. Wm. Smale, Mrs. Clarence Reid. Past president Mrs. Roy Smale con- ducted the election. Ten dollars was voted to the annual Christ- mas party held in Hensall, Sat- urday, Dec. 10, sponsored by the businessmen. Discussion was held regarding a donation for centennial decorations for the village. Plans were finalized for the annual children's party Sunday, Dec. 18, and plans for the cen- tennial ball New Year's eve were discussed. Christmas boxes will be sent to shut-in members. Mrs. Davis won the mystery prize, Mrs. Horton, guessi ng prize, and Mrs. Roy Smale, the attendance prizes. Bingo was played and gifts ex- changed among the members. Lunch was served.
