St. Patricks church who is now
a resident of Strathrnere Lodge.
A social hour was enjoyed.

The January meeting will be
held at the home of Mrs. Maurice
MacDonald, Mrs, MacDonald
donated the mystery prize which
was won by little Miss Carol
Abbott, a guest.

the roll call, and Wendy Cron-
kite, Ken Latta, and Sandra Me-
Lelland were in charge of the
worship service.
Plans were made for a 5:30pm
pot-luck supper next Sunday when
young people from Ailsa Craig,
Centralia and Granton will be
guests. The guest speaker will be
Rev. W. Bruleigh of Toronto.
It was decided to attend the
annual Vesper Service in a body,
Sunday, December 18.
It was also voted as a money
making project to check coats
at the Couples' Club dance, which
will be held in the Community
Centre Friday evening.

Christmas trees are very
scarce this year. Mr. D. A. Ash-
worth was able to secure a limit-
ed quantity for sale. All returns
from the sales, will go to church
work.

Thursday night, in spite of
nigh zero weather, seven of the
eight TOPS' members made it,
to the sixth meeting of their
club held at the home of the co-
leader, Mrs. Wayne Hockey.
Leader, Mrs. Eldon Hopps,
was in the chair. Hy the grin of
satisfaction, after the weighing
in, all could tell there had been
a loss of weight 15 lbs. of it.
The Lucan member, who lost
six pounds during the week, was
crowned queen. Four others re-
ceived a TOPS' crest each, sig-
nifying a weekly loss, two oth-
ers received a turtle crest for
a small loss, while one member
had to take home a little pink
pig, as a gentle reminder.

Two well-known parishioners
died suddenly this week from
Our Lady of Mt Carmel parish,
Joseph A. Ryan, 66, died in
South Huron Hospital, Exeter,
Friday, December 2.
His wife, the late MaryMoser,
predeceased him. Surviving are
two daughters, (Madeline) Mrs.
William Smith, Zurich; (Marilyn)
Mrs. Vincent Thompson; Mc-
Gillivray Township; one brother,
John of Stephen Twp. also eight
grandchildren.
The body rested at the T. Harry
Hoffman funeral home, Dash-
wood, until Monday, December 5
at 11 a.m. when Rev. H.P. Jansen
sang Requiem Mass at the Church
of Our Lady of Mt Carmel and
assisted at the graveside. Inter-
ment was in Mt Carmel cemetery.

Clandeboye Match Makers re-
ceived recognition on Saturday
at the Achievement Day, with
Miss Shirley Wallace, who com-
mented on their record book.
Each member received a sterling
silver spoon. Anyone who com-
pleted two projects received a
certificate. In the program the
girls displayed their hats, scarfs
and purses.

DONATES AIRCRAFT
TO MISSIONS
Rev. Stanley Tomes with his
wife and daughters of Big Trout
Lake, have taken tem por ar y
residence in Winnipeg, Apt. 312,
512 London St. while he is taking
pilots' training. The Rev. D. D.
Doren, rector of St. Paul's Epis-
copal Church, Mount Lebanon,
Pittsburg, Penn., and his parish-
ioners of the church donated an
aircraft to the Big Trout Lake
Missions and a new school has
been built there.
The gift will be a help in
transportation for the six mis-
sions in the district where Mr.
Tomes is rector. He is the son
of Mrs. Emily Tomes of Clande-
boye and a former member of St.
James Church here.
DANCE FOR LIGHTS
A dance was held Friday night
Dec. 2, for the Clandeboye street
lights, at Lucan Memorial Arena,
by the Clandeboye community.
Music was provided by Blenders,
London. Mr. Carl Stire, Exeter,
won the lamp in the draw. Bal-
ance on hand is $265.70 for the
lights.

well. He has been a patient in
Westminster Hospital for seven
weeks.
Mrs. Andy Dorman is visiting

WHITE GIFT SUNDAY
At the United Church, White
Gift Sunday was observed when
Sunday School children presented
a wrapped white gift for the Sau-
geen Indian Reserve, Southamp-
ton. The Rev. G. W, Sach was
in charge.
A guest soloist from Lucan,
Miss Marlene Butler, sang two
solos. The choir was from Sun-
day School.

Dennis P. O'Rourke, 56, died in
St. Joseph's Hospital, London,
where he has been a patient for
two weeks.
He is survived by his wife,
the former Clare Dietrich; one
daughter, Mary at home; seven
sons, Patrick, Joseph and Ger-
ard at home, Michael of Hinton,
Alta., Donald, London, Wayne
Dashwod,„Glen, Mt Forest, four
sister's, Rev Sister Mary
Clarisse, Sarnia, Mrs. John
(Eileen) Barry, Detroit, Mrs.
Carl (Nora) Theander, Centra-
lia; Mrs. Josephine Regier,

The body rested at the T.
Harry Hoffman funeral home,
Dashwood, until Tuesday morn-
ing, December 6. at 10 a.m.
when Rev A.P. Jansen assisted
by five priests from Regina Mundi
Seminary, London, sang Requiem
Mass. Interment was in Mt Car-
mel cemetery.

ton Dietrich, Richard O'Rourke,
Clem McCann, Gerald O'Brien,
Ross Pickering and Patrick Sul-
livan Jr.

A large crowd attended the
annual turkey bingo sponsored by
the CWL and held in Dashwood
Community Centre last Thurs-
day evening.
