MISSIONARY AT EUB
The EUB Church enjoyed the
ministry of a missionary-on-
furlough from the Niger Repub-
lic. Miss Della Watson, whose
home is in Fenelon Falls, on
Saturday evening showed slides
and curios relating to her work.
Sunday she told of certa
Christians in Niger and of the
impact they have made upon oth-
ers by their witness. Miss Wat-
son is a teacher by profession
and uses three languages in her
work, English, French and Hausa.
The people of Niger are not
without a sense of humour. One
of the curios was a ladle used
in eating sorghum gruel, a staple
of their diet. It is fashioned from
a gourd and is carefully decorat-
ed especially on the outside of
the bowl, with geometric designs
applied by burning. Recognizing
the temptation to turn over the
ladle in order to admire the pat-
tern they have named it "sha
bar kallo" which means "Drink.
Stop looking."
