Edward Howald, 82, Waterloo
St. W, died in. South Huronlios-
pital Thursday, October 13, He
had been a resident of Exeter
for almost 60 years.
The deceased was born inZur-
ich and speet his early Years in
Hensall moving to Exeter in 1907,
He was employed at Exeter Flour
Mills and later clerked in South-
cott Bros. general store.
He was an active member of
James Street United. C hu r c
serving as chairman of the Board
of Stewards for several years.
He was a member of Exeter IOOF
and of Lebanon Forest Masonic
Lodge.
He and his wife, the former
Mary Newcombe of Exeter, cele-
brated their golden wedding an-
niversary in 1958.
Surviving besides his wife are
one daughter, Mrs. Verne Roul-
ston, Simcoe, two grandaughters
and two great grandchildren; also
a brother, Rev. F. L. Howald of
Morrisburg.
Funeral services were con-
ducted by Rev. S. E. Lewis as-
sisted by Rev. Howald, at the Hop-
per-Hockey funeral home, Ex-
eter, Monday, October 17 with
interment in Exeter cemetery.
An IOOF service was held at the
funeral home Saturday evening.
Pallbearers were Messrs.
Frank Sheere, Maurice Quance,
Harvey Pollen, E. R. Hopper, An-
drew Easton and Percy McFalls.
