Organist assumes
position at church
Following the resignation of
Mr. Gordon Jacklin, some months
ago, the rector and, wardens of
Holy Trinity Anglican Church
left no stone unturned to secure
a new organist. A dv e r ti s ing
brought no replies, and all pos-
sibilities petered out.
Mrs. E. 0. Lancaster and Mrs.
Clarence Hardy managed to carry
on but neither could accept the
position permanently.
Finally the committee heard
of Mr. Ronald Alderton a teacher
in the Bidduiph Central School,
who was beginning his seco nd
year there. On interviewing him,
Area girls
on TV show
The Lucan-Clandeboye CGIT

profitable week.
Friday evening, 30 members
and two leaders went by bus to
the Rally in Colbourne St. Lon-
don, where the girls rotated to
10 groups of music, recreation,
planning work, business proce-
dure and drama. Lucan's leader,
Mrs. Murray Hodgins, was in
charge of one of the music groups.
Saturday night the group at-
tended the CFPL-TV "Take Your
Choice". The following members
took part in the program, Nancy
Park, Marilyn Hearn, Heather
Froats and Carol Haskett.
It was three years ago, Mrs.
Hodgins asked permission to go
on the program, but it was worth
the wait, for the girls received
one of the largest amounts ever
received, $161. This amount will
be of great assistance in the
final payments, on the Stained
Glass Window. Though the taping
was done Saturday night it will
not appear on the air until Sat-
urday, Oct. 29.

Rec news
By J. E. BURT
Last Wednesday we had our
ice in use for the first time this
season, the earliest for the past
few years, but because of a mis-
hap, with our compressor, we are
back to where we were the first
of October — no ice.
I don't know just when the com-
pressor will be going again, but
I do hope by October 24, But I
would advise any one planning on
coming skating, or for hockey to
phone first, as this may save
you an unnecessary trip. We will
try to inform you as to when the
ice will be available.
Our regular Saturday night
dances are not as crowded as
we would like them to be. Maybe
it's because of other events being
on, and the mild weather. We do
hope that they get better soon.
