Kinettes celebrate
10th anniversary
liern, Exeter, presented the club
with an inscribed scrap book.
Mrs. J. W. Drysdale introduced
the guest speaker Bill Brady of
CFPL-TV London, who spoke on
"Broadcasting Industries". He
was much enjoyed and received
a standing ovation. Past pres-
ident Mrs. Wm Fuss was soloist
contributing two solos. Her ac-
companist was Mrs.Robt.Pryde.
Past President Mrs. John Deltz
brought greetings from all past
Kinettes and presented Charter
President Mrs. Harold Knight
with a floral arrangement which
was given to the Kinette Club
by the Past Kinettes. Convenor
Mrs. Nancy Browne cut the birth-
day cake which was served with
coffee at the end of the evening.
October 25. Mrs. Wilbert Dilling
read the list of resolutions to be
brought up at the Area Con-
vention, Mrs. V, M, Pyette and
Mrs, James McAllister were ap-
pointed voting delegates to the
Area Convention at Goderich.
Contributing to the program
were toe tapping mueteal num-
bers with Don McCurdy on the
banjo, Frank Forrest, violin and
Alfred Denornme at the piano,
and a floral demonstration by
Mrs. Gerald Northcott of Reder's
Florists, Exeter, who arranged
several beautiful floral bouquets.
She donated them and they were
auctioned off by Mrs. Beer, and
the buyers were Mr. McKinley,
Mrs. Robt. Elgie, Mrs. T. J.
Sherritt and Mrs. Cordon Troyer.
Mrs. R. M. Peck was the winner
in the draw for a floral arrange-
ment.
Mrs. Pyette extended courtesy
remarks. President Mrs. Bev-.
erly Beaton presided for the
business and Mrs. Clarence Reid
for the program. Program con-
venors were Mrs. Maude liedden
and Mrs. C larence Reid. Host-
tesses were Mrs. Harry Horton
and Mrs. Annie Reid.

Mr, Robt, E. McKinley M.P.
for Huron, was guest Speaker
at Hensall Women's Institute
Wednesday evening, Oct. 12. The
speaker introduced by Mrs. Fred
Beer was spending the week in
Huron because of the ploughing
Match and said he was very
pleased to visit with the Women's
Institute whenever possible.
Mr, McKinley spoke of the
many duties of a Member of
Parliament and also showed pic-
tures of a trip to Northern Can-
ada taken this summer by the
Northern Affairs committee of
the House of Commons. He spoke
of the tremendous potentials of
the North in natural resources.
He wished every Canadian would
have the opportunity to see the
conditions the northern people
who are also Canadians live un-
der. If they could he said "I am
sure most people would be much
more content with the many
pleasures that Canadians enjoy".
Roll call was "What I con-
tributed to the Ploughing Match".
During the business session $15
was donated to the CNIB. The
group accepted an invitation to
Dashwood, November 8 and to
the Ontario Hospital, Goderich,

celebrated its 10th anniversary
with a banquet at Hotel Hensall
Wednesday evening, October 12.

The first meeting of the Elim-
ville I 4-H Homemaking Club
was held at the home of Mrs.
Norman Jaques.
The President is Brenda Blair;
secretary, Sheila Hern and press
reporter, Janice Morley.
Notes were given on "Good
Food Makes a Difference".
Subsequent meetings were held
at the home of the leader, Mrs.
Jaques. The girls decided to call
themselves "Supper Sals".
R. L. MacLean
dies in hospital
Mr. Robert L. MacLean, 76,
of RR 2 Kippen, passed away
Tuesday, October 18 in South
Huron Hospital, Exeter, where
he had been a patient for five
weeks.
He was well known and ahighly
esteemed resident of Tucker-
smith Township where he farmed
all his life. He was a member
of Hensall United Church.
Surviving are his wife, the
former Myrtle Mahaffy, four
sons, Bill, E xe ter;Grant, Hen-
sail; Keith, RR 3 Seaforth; Ken,
RR 2 Kippen; three daughters,
(Maude) Mrs. Wilson Broadfoot,
Goderich; (Verna) Mrs. Lorne
Hay, Hensall; (Ruth) Mrs, Mar-
tin Flood, Burlington, one
brother, Lloyd McLean, RR 1
HensaIl; one sister, (Grace) Mrs.
Harold Hunter, Exeter and ten
grandchildren.
Public funeral services will be
held from Bonthron Funeral
Home, Hensall, Thursday, Oc-
tober 20 at 2 pm conducted by
Rev. Harold Currie. Interment
will be in Exeter cemetery.

Ladies canvass
for blind people
The Thanksgiving meeting of
the Presbyterian Arnold Circle
took place Monday, Oct. 17 in
the church basement. "Family
Thanksgiving" for the theme of
the worship period was taken by
Mrs. Stewart Bell, daughter
Pauline and Mrs. Roland Van-
stone.
President Mrs. Bob Bell chair-
ed the meeting and called on
reports from the various exec-
utives. Mrs. Mildred Bell enter-
tained with a number of selec-
tions at the piano.
Representatives from the
Circle to canvass for the CNIB
are Mrs. H. Bonthron, Mrs. S.
Bell and Mrs. R. Vanstone.
Before tea was served Mrs.
Al Hoggarth conducted a contest
with winner Mrs. J. Skea the
recipient of a bowl of fruit.

The evening unit of the Grand
Bend UCW was held in church
school room Tuesday evening.
The theme was Thanksgiving.
Mrs. Jack Eagleson conducted
the opening worship assisted by
Mrs. Robert Keyes. Roll call
was an article for bazaar which
will be Nov. 19 at 2:30 pm.
Rev. N. McLeod was guest
speaker and spoke on "The Prin-
ciples of Union".
The Hi-C group met the same
evening under the direction of
Mr. Allan parker and after their
business session joined the Unit
to hear Rev. McLeod. Mrs. Wtn.
Sturdevant conducted the busi-
ness.

Thanksgiving weekend with Mr.
J. M. Sproat at Oakwood. Mrs.
Kaiser has returned home after
spending two weeks with Mrs.
Sproat and attending Red Tavern
school reunion.
The reception and dance for
Mr. and Mrs. Robert (Bob) Erb,
a bridal couple, was largely at-
tended in Zurich C ommunity
Centre Saturday, October 8. The
couple were presented with a
well-filled purse, honors for the
presentation going to Paul Erb.
Desjardine orchestra furnished
music for the dance.
The annual fall Rummage Sale
sponsored by Hensall Kinette
Club and held Saturday in the
Legion Hall was successful and
well patronized in spite of in-
clement weather. Cartons of
clothing not sold were donated
to the United church bale.
Miss Muriel Hayman of Car-
shalton, Surrey England, will
arrive at London Airport Friday,
October 21 for a brief visit with
her sister, Mrs. Carl Payne,
and will attend the Merritt-Payne
wedding October 29.
Mr. and Mrs. Ken Sauter, Mar-
lette, Mich., spent the weekend
with Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Bell
and girls.
Mrs. Maurice Tudor attended
the Tudor-Morrislon wedding at
Kingussie, Scotland, Saturday,
October 1, making the trip by
jet. The groom is the oldest son
of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Tudor
of Hensall. The young couple
will take up residence in Tor-
onto the end of October.
Mrs. Lou Simpson is a
patient in South Huron Hospital,
Exeter.
Mr. and Mrs. Chas Robinson
of Bath, have returned home
after a visit with Mrs. Hugh
McMurtrie.
Mrs. W. a Cross is a pat-
ient at St. Joseph's Hospital,
London, where she underwent
surgery Saturday.
Sunday morning was Laymen
Service in the United Church
with laymen conducting and par-
ticipating in the service. Mr.
Ernie Williams, Seaforth, an ac-
tive and dedicated laymen of
the United Church, was guest
speaker. The anthem was by
the Congregational Men's choir.
Flowers in the sanctuary were
in memory of Mrs. Henry Pfile
by the family.

Several showers have been held
in honor of Miss Mary Payne,
bride-elect of this month. Rel-
atives gathered at the home of
Mrs. Floyd Payne, London, and
presented her with various gifts.
