Ferneries, lighted candelabra,
ribbon decked pews and tall
standards of large yellow and
bronze shasta mums, formed the
setting in the Lucan United
Church at 6 pm Wednesday, Sept.
28, for the double-ring ceremony
when the Rev. G, W. Sach united
in wedlock Jean Marie Lankin
and David William Varey.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Jack E. Lankin
of Main St., Lucan and the groom
is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Walter R. Varey of London.
Given in marriage by her fath-
er the bride chose a floor-length
Italian silk faille gown, fashion-
ed with scoop neckline, elbow
length sleeves, empire waist-
line and bell A line skirt. Her
detachable watteau chapel-length
train and her dress were ap-
pliqued with French Alencon lace
embroidered with seed pearls. A
four tier elbow-length veil of
French silk illusion was held in
place by a circle of chrysan-
themum petals encrusted with a
matching seed pearl debign. She
carried a cascade of white hy-
brid orchids, stephanotis and pol-
ished ivy.
Miss Betty Ann Young of Lu-
can, as maid of honor, and Mrs.
Don Lankin and Miss Nancy Has-
kett, also of Lucan as brides-
maids, were all gowned alike in
floor-length A-line dresses of
old gold peau de soiewith match-
ing cut-velvet tops. The extra
rear fulness formed a panel train.
Matching headdresses of cut-
velvet petals, held their cocktail
veils. They carried cascades of
yellow roses and bronze shasta
mums.
Mr. Donald Varey of London,
was best man for his brother
and another brother, Mr. Doug-
las Varey and Mr. Don Lankin
brother of the bride, were ush-
ers.
Mrs. G, W. Sach as organist
provided traditional wedding mu-
sic and accompanied Mrs. Brent
Bamford of London, who sang
"The Wedding Prayer" and
"This is our Day".
At a reception and dinner at
the Community Centre, resplend-
ent with yellow roses, bronze
mums and gold candles, the
bride's mother, received in a
moss green imported peau de sole
ensemble, with matching acces-
sories and a corsage of Fall tone
cymbidium orchids. She was as-
sisted by the groom's mother
who chose a silver-brown silk
brocade, with matching acces-
sories, and corsage of green
cymbidium orchids.
For a honeymoon trip to Ten-
nessee the bride changed to a
brown mink-trimmed suit, brown
accessories and white hybrid or-
chid corsage.
The couple will make their
home in London.
The dinner was followed by an
evening reception, dance and
midnight refreshments.
