Miss Anne Thomson attended Byrick— yundt wedding at St. James Anglican Church at Strat- ford Saturday and the reception at the Country Club. Mrs, Claire Sisson attended the semi-annual meeting of Hur- on Diocese at Stratford, Wednes- day. Mr. & Mrs. Ken Langford visit- ed Sunday with Mrs. E, Tre- wartha of Clinton. Mr. & Mrs. Lawrence Grasby and family, London, Mr. & Mrs. Fred Petch of Strathroy were Sunday guests of Mr. & Mrs. Claire Sisson. The first meeting of the Stu- dent Council was held Thurs. Sept. 29. The entire council is as follows: President, Len Hume; Vice ,-President, Tina Mills; Social Convenor, Janet Miller; Secretary, Kathy Taylor; Tres- urer, Marilyn Gascho; and chain. man, Gary Flaxbard. The first business the council attended to was the sale of tickets for the International Plow- ing match in S e a.f or th. The tickets are $1.00 each or a book of 6 tickets for $5.00. This is being sponsored by the Exeter Lion's Club. The response for tickets has been overwhelming. A meeting has been planned for Oct. 6 to meet with a re- presentative of the Curtis Pub- lishing Co. concerning a magazine campaign for this year. Class representatives will be distributing student cards to their classes, in the near future. Parent's night which was held for Grade 9 and newcomers to SHDHS last Thursday Sept. 29 was quite successful. The French Club, under the leadership of Mr. C. Wilson and Mr. Marshall has been organ- ized and all are welcome. The Senior Panthers lost their game to Seaforth last week, 13- 6. Better luck next time team! This Fri. Oct, 7 both junior and senior Panthers play at SHDHS. The cheerleaders began to practice this week. The orchestra is looking for new members, so if you play an instrument, don't hesitate to join, The Glee Club is organized and practices every Thursday. Mrs. Osman is the leader. The Grade 13 students are trying to organize a trip to New York. This trip would take place during the Easter vacation. Grade 12 and 13 students are invited. The estimated cost of this trip would be $100. The Grade 9 students are going to the Shakespearean Festival in Stratford Wed., Oct, 5 to see "Twelfth Night". This is a most enjoyable play. Everyone should plan to go to the Festival at least once a year its it is very educational as well as entertaining. As we are so close to Stratford, we don't realize what a privilege it is to attend one of their plays. The Paper Staff, which pub- lishes the yearbook, has been set up for 1966-67. Its staff is: Editor, Shirley Snider; Assistant Editors, Chris Tuckey and Ron Durand; Photography, Vern Herm Girls' Sports, Joan Simmons; Boys' Sports, Gord Greenwood; Humour, Lep Desjardine and Tom Vickerman; Social, Susan Allen. Best of luck, students. 'Til next week! Square dancers enjoy fun night Exeter Promenaders had are- cord turnout for their annual "Fun Dance". It was held Sat- urday night in the arena, with an attendance of over 80 people. About half those present were non-members of the square dance club. The purpose of the dance was to encourage and promote square dancing among people who had never tried it before, or who had not done it in recent years. Club caller, Earl Bowles, kept the dancers moving at a steady, but not difficult pace. The visitors apparently enjoyed the dances, as he had no trouble getting them all back on the floor after the breaks. Coffee and doughnuts were served at the end of the evening. Those taking part were encourag- ed to come out Monday nights for Mrs. Fred Doupe, Mrs. Addle Gordon, Mrs. Robert Rundle at- tended the trousseau tea for Miss Elizabeth Esson at the home of her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Nelson Baker, on Saturday. Mr. & Mrs. Walter Levy were guests at the Heard— Hardie wedding in Granton United Church Saturday. Mr. & Mrs. Gordon Johns, Larry, Linda, Arlene and Alex were Sunday guests with Mr. & Mrs. Ford Stark and family of St. Marys., Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd Slever of Sudbury, Mrs, Alice Clawson of Anoka,Minnesota,Mrs..Mary And- erson and Mrs. Elsie Conard of Woodstock were Tuesday guests with Mr. & Mrs. Gordon Johns and family. Mr. & Mrs. Ira McCurdy, Mr. & Mrs. Reg McCurdy visited Sunday with Mr. Oliver McCurdy of Barrie. Miss Ann Martin of Fullerton spent the weekend with Miss Di- anne Smith. Miss Margaret Levy burnt her hands with grease on Friday. Mrs. W. Payne of London is spending a couple of days with her daughter Mrs. Robert Rundle and Jack. Mrs. Jack Smith and Miss the Beginners' Class which start- ed this week. It will be open for new members for three or four weeks, after which time it is closed to enable the group to pro- gress more rapidly. Navy men Mr. Williamson received his early education in England, at the Royal Grammar School, Lancas- ter, before spending three years in the Merchant Navy as an ap- prentice navigation officer, After leaving the seas as the result of an accident suffered on board ship, Mr. Williamson went into sales and administration, the latter particularly civil engin- eering, before migrating to this country. Here he spent a year in the now defunct London Township Police, leaving to enter the University of Western Ontario to read for an English and History Honours de- gree. Over the past four years he has been employed first on a part- time and then on afull timebasis, by the London Board of Education. His interests include writing, books, music, art, sailing and sportscars, and he has built a 26' ketch which he keeps at Grand Bend. Mr. Williamson is married to the former Barbara RuthUunter, whose parents, Mr, and Mrs, Harold Hunter, farm in UShOrne Township. Mr. and Mrs. William- son reside in Oakridge park, London. Enjoys travel Miss V. Kurelech has been ap- pointed to the South Huron Dist- rict High School to teach Geo- graphy and Physical Education. She was born in Europe and got her elementary Education there, In Canada she attended Sir Mann Beck Collegiate in London, University of Western Ontario and McMaster, She grad- uated with a B.A. and B,P„E, She taught previously in To- rOnto, Hamilton and Niagara Falls areas. Miss Kurelech enjoys sports, travel, international cooking, reading, theater, sketching and chess. She hopes to take .a trip around the world in the near future.
