of the Women's Missionary
Society of the Presbyterian
Church held its Fall Rally in
Carmel Presbyterian Church last
Wednesday afternoon and even-
ing with the theme, "The
Christian's Calling to Serve--
Go Thou, and Do Likewise."
Mrs. Wes Bradnoek, of Auburn
president of the Presbyterial
presided.
Seaforth Senior WMS conducted
the devotional for the afternoon
session and Mrs. J. C. Boyne
Rheta Charles
dies at age 71
Mrs. Rheta Charles, 71, a
resident of the village, passed
away suddenly at her home Sat-
urday, October 1.
The former Rheta Francis
Thompson she came to Hensall
from London some years ago.
Mrs. Charles was a member of
Hensall United Church, member
of Unit 4 UCW and a member
of Hensall Women's Institute.
Surviving her loss are two
daughters, Mrs. Scott (Muriel)
Robinson, London; Mrs. Robert
(Eleanor) Harradine, S o du s,
N.Y.; one b r ot h e r Lyle Thomp-
son, Red Deer, Alta; and two
grandchildren.
Public funeral services were
held from Bonthron Funeral
Home, Monday conducted by Rev.
H. F. Currie. Burial was in
Hensall Union cemetery.

Reports from the different de-
partments were heard, one from
the Literature secretary, Mrs.
Marjorie Enright of Goderich,
who stated "We should be proud
to be Canadians and have these
displays of books. Nobody has
time to read good books. The
world is open to those who take
time to read.
Guest speaker, Miss Dorothy
Keller, deaconess, and regional
secretary for the WMS who was
born and educated in Vancouver,
and worked in Winnipeg, Man.
and Montreal for the WMS gave
helpful suggestions on how to
improve WMS programs. She
talked specifically of her exper-
ience with the Indians in Man-
itoba. She showed a film strip
that can be used along with this
year's mission study.
An impressive In Memoriam
service was conducted by Clin-
ton WMS honoring the women
who had passed on during the
year. A girls' quartette from
Sea-forth, Sandra Coleman, Mary
Jean Fry, Lauren Moggah and
Cathy Scott sang accompanied
by Mrs. Wm Brown at the piano.
The ladies of the church served
supper.
Constable Douglas Wein RCMP
and Mrs. Wein of Port Hawkes-
bury N.S. were recent visitors
with the latter's parents Mr. &
Mrs. Harold Parker and Patsy,
also with Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth
Parker and Mr. & Mrs. George
Parker and families.
Robt. E. McKinley Huron MP
will be guest speaker at Hensall
Women's Institute at their Agri-
culture and Canadian Industry
meeting at the Legion Hall Wed-
nesday, October 12 at 8:15 pm.

a bowling tournament at Wing-

ing Hensall Legion Ladies Aux-
iliary. Door prizes and draws
were won by Mrs. Roy Smale
(3) and Mrs. Clarence Reid, (1).

guest speaker for Huron-Mait-
land Presbyterial at Carmel
Presbyterian Church last Wed-
nesday was a guest with Mr. and
Mrs. Gordon Schwalm and family.
Mrs. Eric Kennedy is spending
a week with her daughter and
son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Karl
Haslip and family at Burlington.
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Kennedy,
Ronald and David of Hamilton
were visitors last week with
Mrs. Eric Kennedy and Mr. Ira
Geiger.

ton Hospital penny sale draw

Mr. and Mrs. James Bozzato
and Dana, RCAF Foymont, have
returned after spending a month
visiting the latter's parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Wm Kyle, Kippen.
Mrs. Wilmer Dalrymple is a
patient in Victoria Hospital, Lon-
don, where she underwent sur-
gery Sunday.
William Tinney, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Ben Tinney, underwent sur-
gery in St. Joseph's Hospital,
London, Friday.
Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Hedden of
Niagara Falls visited last week
with Mr. Herb Hedden.
Mrs. W. B. Cross, who has
been a patient in Clinton Public
Hospital, has returned home.
Mr. & Mrs. Lorne Chapman and
Rod visited over the weekend with
Mrs. Chapman's brother-in-law
and sister Mr. & Mrs. Sye Hol-
lingshead and sons in Toronto,
also with their son-in-law and
daughter, Mr. & Mrs. Don Mac-
Laren in Oakville.
Mr. & Mrs. Ralph Holland of
Clinton were recent visitors with
Mr. & Mrs. Jas. Sangster and
Bradley.
Mrs. Wilmer Dalrymple, who
was a patient inSouth Huron Hos-
pital, Exeter, was taken to Vic-
toria Hospital, London where she
underwent surgery.
Mr. & Mrs. Howard Love re-
turned to Toronto after spending
several days here owing to the
illness of the former's father Mr.
Milton Love.
Mrs. Bertha MacGregor re-
turned home after spending the
past week with her son and daugh-
ter-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Don Mac-
Laren in Oakville.
Mr. & Mrs. Doug Daily and
Steven of London are spending
this week with Mrs. Daily's par-
ents, Mr. & Mrs. Harold Park-
er and Patsy.
Mr. Russell Moore returned
to Bancroft after spending a week,
with friends in and around Hen-
sail.
Mrs. W. B. Cross returned to
her home after spending a week
in Clinton General Hospital,
where she was receiving treat-
ment.

United Church, Ingersoll, when
Norma Patricia Huntley exchang-
ed vows with David Lloyd George
Noakes. Rev. Stanford Lucyk of-
ficiated at the double ring cere-
mony.
Mr. and Mrs. Morley Huntley,
Ingersoll are the parents of the
bride and the groom is the son of
mr. and Mrs. Leonard Noakes
of Hensall.
Mr, Harold Riddolls presided
at the organ and accompanied the
soloist Mrs. R. Bradfield who
sang the 23rd psalm, The Hebrew
Benediction and during the sign-
ing of the register, The Wedding
Prayer.
The bride given in marriage by
her father chose a floor length
gown of white F r e nc h peau de
sole. The bodice was enhanced
by a scoop neckline and empire
waistline, The main centre of
attraction was the detachable
chapel-length coat in cathedral
style with elbow-length sleeves.
Delicate ribbon lace trimmed the
front of the coat and her finger-
tip veil was of pure silk illusion
and was caught up by a double
wedding band headpiece. She car-
ried a cascade bouquet of white
roses and ivy.
Miss Yvonne Wilson of Inger-
soll was maid of honor and the
bridesmaids were Mrs. K. Wet-
tlaufer and Miss Barbara Carr of
London. They were identically
gowned in floor-length two-piece
ensembles in moss green silk
brocade. The skirts were sheaths
of lime green crepe topped with
sleeveless bodices of brocade.
Over this to match the bride's,
they wore cathedral coats of
brocade also. To add a final
touch they wore wedding band
headpieces, accented by cock-
tail veils. They carried a single
large porn mum with yellow rib-
bons.
The groomsman was Mr. Ed-
ward Hart, London, and the ush-
ers were Mr. Grant Huntley, In-
gersoll, brother of the bride and
Mr, William Noakes, Hensall,
brother of the groom.
For a reception held in the
Fellowship Hall, the bride's
mother received in a cranberry
red sheath dress with matching
hat and black accessories. Her
corsage was white mums. The
groom's mother assisted wear-
•
ing a champagne beige dress of
Peau de sole with lace overlay
and brown accessories. She wore
a corsage of pink rosebuds.
For travelling, the bride don-
ned a jade wool suit with black
accessories and corsage of yel-
low and white mums.
The couple will reside in Berk-
eley, California for three years
where the groom Is attending the
University of California on a
scholarship to obtain his PhD,
The bride is a graduate of Lon-
don Teachers' College.
Guests were present from St.
Catharines, Hamilton, Burling-
ton, Toronto, Brantford, Lon-
don, Kitchener, Windsor, Hensall.
and Ingersoll.
