Thirty members of CavenCon-
gregational Circle enjoyed a bus
trip to Kitchener last Wednesday.
They visited the Farmer's Mar-
ket, Weston's Bakery, Woodside
National Historic Park, the scene
of Mackenzie King's bo yhood
home.
They dined at Castle Inn and
after, visited Schneiders Meat
Packing plant, Baetz Furniture
showrooms, the Fairview Shop-
ping Plaza and the Hi-Way Mar-
ket. Mrs. Alvin Moir convened
the trip.

A pot luck supper preceded
the meeting of Main Street UCW
evening unit last Monday night.
After a devotional period led
by Mrs. Gerald Northcott as-
sisted by Mrs. Graham Arthur
and a short business period con-
ducted by Mrs. Art Clarke, the
rest of the evening was spent in
working on projects for the
bazaar.

Mrs. Lorne Hicks returned
home Sunday night following
eleven weeks of sight seeing to the
west coast and California and
points of interest in the U.S.
While in California she was a
guest at the home of her sister-
in-law, Miss Helen Hicks in San Carlos and also visited with Mr,
& Mrs. Harry Elston in San
Bruno.

They had the pleasure of renew-
ing acquaintances with the Rev.
& Mrs. Bren DeVriese and fam-
ily, former Exeter residents, who
were vacationing at the Shoebot-
tom's cottage.

Mr. Andrew Dixon who oper-
ates a large apple orchard, com-
menced to pick his fall apples
Monday. Mr. Dixon along with
Mr. John A. Stewart of Ailsa
Craig are instigators in produc-
ing an earlier maturing corn
which will prove useful to short-
er growing climates.
Mr. Earl Hamilton, who re-
ceived severe head injuries in
a car accident, is much im-
proved.
Mr. Clarence Neil was on jury
duty in London.
Mrs. Andrew Mathers is en-
joying a trip to the west.
Mrs. Pearl Morley of Lieury
was a Sunday visitor with Mrs.
Violet Allison,
Mr. Tom Kooy is a patient in
South Huron Hospital.
Mrs. Eagleson of Grand Bend
visited last week with Mr. &
Mrs. Doug Dixon and family.
Mr. & Mrs. Byron Jackson of
Parkhill were feted at a birthday
party Sunday at the home of their
daughter, Mrs. Clarence Cun-
ningham, it being the occasion of
her father's birthday. Guests
were Mr. & Mrs. Ray Jackson and
family of London and Mrs. Robert
Cunningham.

technical courses and $10.00 for each academic course and farm manage-
ment. Material will be provided for business and technical subjects. An

Gordon Schwalm made one in the
shape of a maple leaf, green on
one side and yellow on the other.
Her name and address was writ-
ten in a corner. A delegate,
Mrs. Davis, from Woodstown,
New Jersey, received the holder
among other items. She wrote
a note of thanks to Mrs. Schwalm
and from there the ladies were
pen pals.
Mrs. Davis says she has al-
ways been interested in rural
Women and she attended the
ACWW convention in Toronto as
a delegate from the New Jersey
Farm Bureau of Women. She
also attended the ACWW con-
vention in Dublin, Ireland, last
year, and at a banquet she
noticed an Ontario badge on the
lady across the table. She made
herself acquainted and found the
delegate was Mrs. W. Mack from
Crediton who knew Mrs. Sch-
walm. So Mrs. Davis spoke at
Crediton WI Tuesday evening.
Mrs. Davis is an interesting
speaker and tells of so many
of the incidental happenings which
are seldom mentioned but cap-
tivate her listeners. She also has
a library of 5,000 slides from
which to illustrate her talk. Her
pictures of Ireland were very
well received.
Mrs. Davis says she talks or
presents her pictures on an
average of three nights a week
from September to June. She
was chosen "citizen of the year"
in her county last year.
She and her husband who pas-
sed away two years ago, operated
five one-hundred-acre farms on
which asparagus was grown and
marketed. She has retired from
farm life but still keeps busy.
Mrs. Davis' home is in the
southern part of the State of
New Jersey and she journeyed
722 miles to visit Mrs.Schwalm.

and trailing ivy.
Mrs. Tony Giampa was matron
of honor; senior bridesmaid,
Mrs. Leo Buragina and junior
bridesmaids, Miss Melanie. Bur-
agina and Angela Giampa, Lon-
don. Senior attendants were gown-
ed alike in sheath floor-length
gowns of rose brocaded taffeta
carrying pink and white roses
with ivy. Junior bridesmaids
were gowned identically in rose
gowns with ballerina hoop skirts.
Tony Giampa was groomsman
and ushers were Leo, Tony and
Sammy Buragina.
Following the reception at Nor-
don Restaurant the couple left
for a trip to Muskoka and North-
ern Ontario, the bride travelling
in a silk knit teal blue dress with
black feathered hat, black patent
accessories and corsage of red
roses.
The couple will reside in Lon-
don.

held her shoulder-length veil of

Three sisters of the bride were
her attendants; Mrs. W ill i am
Crago, Pembroke, was matron of
honor and Misses Julie and Lorie
Webb, Woodham, were junior
bridesmaids. They were gowned
alike in formal gowns of orange
ice peau de seta, wedding band
headpieces and carried nosegays
of autumn wheat, bronze and yel-
low mums with green ribbon
streamers.
Jack Roundell, Brockville, was
best man and Robert Wareham
and Douglas Webb ushered
guests.
The reception was held in the
church rooms. For travelling
in Northern Ontario the bride
changed to a three-piece suit
with dark brown accessories and
nosegay of autumn flowers.
The couple will reside in Ot-
tawa. The bride is a graduate
of Victoria Hospital School of
Nursing and the groom is a
graduate of the University of
Western Ontario.

the church basement Tuesday
evening, Mrs. Don Brine con-
ducted the worship service assis-
ted by Mrs. Ira McCurdy. Mrs.
Ted Insley favored with a piano
solo.
Mrs. Brine introduced the new
study book "The Church Grows
In Canada". The first chapter
was given by Mrs. John Rodd.
President Mrs. Bob Robinson
conducted the business. Roll call
was answered with a pleasant
school memor y. Lunch was
served.

The United Church Women cat-
ered to a turkey dinner Saturday
for Mr. & Mrs. Adrian Pringle
of London who were celebrating
their golden wedding anniver-
sary. Guests were present from

The first fall meeting of the
Caven Congregational Circle was
recently held in the basement of
the church with Mrs. Norah Tay-
lor in charge of the devotional.
A good attendance was enter-
tained with an historical and de-
scriptive talk on the Island of
Malta followed by pictures of
this beautiful little island, by
F/O H. G. Taylor. Alfred Aqui-
line provided a number of ac-
cordion selections and Mrs.
Aquiline's exhibition of Maltese
lace was of great interest. Fol-
lowing this interesting program
