The first fall meeting of Dash-
wood WI was in charge of the
citizenship and education com-
mittee with Mrs. Emil Becker
convener. Roll call was femme
your favorite teacher and why."
Mrs. Carl Oestreicher dis-
cussed the motto, "The child
has four teachers, home, school,
church, and community". Mr.
Grant Goodale, guest speaker,
spoke on education.
Each member brought a jar
of jam to be donated to South
Huron hospital, Exeter.
Mrs. Glen Webb, president,
dealt with the business. The na-
tional WI Convention is to be held
in Guelph June 12-16, 1967. Ten
dollars was donated to UNESCO
for a gift coupon. The Rally will
be held in Auburn October 3. Mrs.
Syd Baker reported on the plan-
ning for the Seaforth plowing
match.
WSWS MEETING
The WSWS of the Evangelical
UB church held its first fall
meeting Friday, September 9.
Mrs. Howard Klumpp was chair-
lady for the program planned by
the membership and attendance
group. Mrs. Merrill James as
the leader; Mrs. Sid Baker as
Dr. Silver; and Mrs. Mervyn
Tieman who led the prayer period
had the topic, "Intercessory
Prayer". The following Inter-
mediate campers, John and Or-
ville James, Dean Oestreicher,
Beth Snell, Bonnie Mason and
Brad Klumpp entertained the la-
dies with camp songs.
Mrs. Carl Oestreicher, pre-
sident, conducted the business.
The Fall Rally will be held at
Dashwood October 21. Mrs. Chas.
Snell will be in charge of the
display table. The Sunshine com-
mittee for September is Mrs.
Merrill James and Mrs. Wes
Engeland. Mrs. Irvin Schade and
her group served lunch.

Robert Mark, infant son of
Mr. & Mrs. Ray VanDorsselaer
was baptized in Zion Lutheran
church Sunday, Sept. 11. Mr. &
Mrs. Elmer Rader were spons-
ors.
Mr. Arthur Rader has return-
ed to his studies at Concordia
Seminary, St. Louis, Mo.
Mrs. Otto Willert entertained
the following guests Sunday Sept.
11 on the occasion of her hus-
band's birthday, Miss Meta Sur-
erus, Miss Ida Wurm, Mr. &
Mrs. Jerome Deitrich and fam-
ily, all of Zurich, Mr. & Mrs.
Bill Willert and family of Inger-
soll, and Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd Wil-
lert and family.
Sunday visitors with Mr. &
Mrs. Ross Love were Mr. &
Mrs. Earl Datars and family of
Grand Bend and Mr. & Mrs.
Fred Lobb and Randy of Clinton.
They all motored to Thedford
and visited with Mr. & Mrs.

son of Mt. Clements, Mich. Mr.
Wilfred Mclsaac returned home
after spending a few days with
his mother.

Mrs. Wilmer Pfaff and family
were Mr. & Mrs. Don Glanville
and girls, Mr. & Mrs. Don Din-
ney and family, all of Crediton,
and Mr. & Mrs. Don Jory and
family of Forest.
Bruce Pfaff fell through a trap
door in the barnSunday afternoon
and was taken to South Huron
hospital, Exeter, for observation.
He returned home Monday and,
although his injuries were not
serious, he will be confined to
the house for a few days.
Dashwood Evangelical United
Brethren Church Memorial ser-
vice was held Sunday afternoon
at the cemetery. Rev. C. B.
Carr from St. Jacobs was guest
speaker taking as the topic, ',He
being dead yet speaketh". A male
quartet, Harry Hoffman, Jack
Gaiser, Stanley Haist, and Stuart
Wolfe, sang accompanied by Mrs.
Merrill James on the piano ac-
cordion. Rev. M. J. James was
the leader in worship.
Rev. & Mrs. M. J. James at-
tended the United Church Gen-
eral Council at Waterloo Monday
when the delegates voted unani-
mously to accept the plan for
union with the Ontario Confer-
ence of the Evangelical United
Brethren church. The union plan
must be approved by the EUB
General Conference in Novem-
ber and by the 34 annual con-
ferences of the EUB church dur-
ing 196'7 before the final union
can be consummated in January
1968.
Dashwood EUB choir held their
first regular rehearsal Wednes-
day evening for the fall.
