Mrs. Cochrane
dies in Exeter
Mrs. John Cochrane of Hensall,
formerly of Hay Township, pass-
ed away Sunday in South Huron
Hospital, Exeter, where she had
been a patient since June 4. The
former Jennie Latta she was in
her 74th year, and had been a
resident in Hensall for four
years. She was a member of St.
Andrews United Church, Kippen.
Surviving i s her husband.
Public funeral services were
held Tuesday, August 23 from
the Bonthron Funeral Home, Hen-
sall, conducted by Rev. Edgar
Roulston, Exeter. Burial was in
I3aird's Cemetery.

conducted service in Carmel
Presbyterian Church Sunday and
dispensed the elements of the
Sacrament of the Lord's Supper.
Mrs. Malcolm Dougall presided
at the organ and accompanied the
soloist Mr. Gary Scholl.
Services will continue with the
United Church members wor-
shipping in Carmel Church until
Sunday, Sept, 11 when Rev, Har-
old Currie will return from va-
cation. Mr. Gordon Griggs BA
will be in the pulpit of Carmel
Presbyterian Church during the
remainder of September.

Twenty-five members of the
Messenger group of the United
church with the leaders, Mrs.
Harvey Smith and Mrs. Sam Skin-
ner held the annual picnic at the
Exeter park Wednesday after-
noon. Assisting in the program
of sports were Mrs. Ray Shoe-
bottom, Mrs. Ross TvIcFalls and
Rev. D. M. Guest.
Winners in the races were:
Under six years, Dianne Skinner
and Penny Smith; six to eight
years, Lois Mae Elliott and Firth
Adcock; eight to ten years, Gary
Skinner and Fay Ann Blair; ten
to twelve years, Connie Steeper
and Dwight Noels;
In the group games David
Elliott's team won the water
relay, Marikay Hodgins' group,
ball relay and David Elliott's
team, tooth pick relay; kick the
slipper, girls, Jean Kersah and
Joan Smyth; boys, Garry Skinner
and Dwight Noels.
After the games all enjoyed
a lunch of hut dogs, pop and
ice cream.

Off to California
to study, teach
Twenty-eight relatives and
family of David Noakes held a
farewell party in his honor Sat-
urday, August 20, in Hensall
Legion Hall. David was presented
with gifts from the family and
relatives. He is currently at Uni-
versity of Western Ontario hut
after his marriage September 17,
he and his bride will depart for
Berkeley, California where he
will be teaching and working for
his PhD. David was in Maryland
last week attending the 17th con-
vention of the American Institute
of Biological Sciences at the Uni-
versity of Maryland.

chener, who were gowned iden-
tically to the maid of honor.
Groomsman was Ralph Doug-
las Porter of Atwood. Ushers
were Charles Gordon Schwalm,
brother of the bride, and Murray
Leroy Coghlin of Atwood, broth-
er of the groom.
The bride's mother chose a
dress of draped sheath of im-
ported champagne lace with
matching gloves, cocoa acces-
sories and corsage of pink car-
nations. The groom's mother
chose a dress of teal green
chantilly lace with matching
gloves and beige accessories with
a corsage of cream roses. A
wedding dinner was served to
76 at the church catered by the
Ladies Aid. The bride and groom
cut the three tiered swan pillar-
ed cake, surrounded with cloudy
veil and bridal bouquets, flanked
with chandelier candle holders.
Four grandmothers and two
grandfathers attended and a re-
ception was given by the bride's
parents at the Community Centre
auditorium. The groom's par-
ents also assisted with the re-
ception.

tario the bride donned a pea-
cock blue linen three-piece en-
semble with black accessories.
They will reside in Blyth,
where the groom is an accountant
in the Blyth bank and the bride
is on the office staff at the G.A.C.
