Council to view
plaque unveiling
At the meeting of the Biddulph
Township Council last Tuesday
it was decided to grant $25 to
the Middlesex plowma.n"s As-
sociation.
The council authorized the road
superintendent, Doug Tuttle, to
apply to the Department of High-
ways, for permission to con-
struct a sidewalk, on the north
side of Hodgins St. Clandeboye.
An invitation was accepte d
from the Lucan WI to attend the
unveiling of a memorial plaque,
to the memory of the Wilber-
force Settlement, Aug. 28 at 2:30
pm in Lucan.
It was voted to erect a flag
pole in front of the Township
Building.
Swimmers
pass tests
Ward Hodgins, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Murray Hodgins of Lucan
is Lucan's swimming instructor
this year. His brother Wayne
has charge of advanced begin-
ners, Ann George of beginners
and Elizabeth Hill of the “learn
to swim" group.
At the end of the first two
sessions, Paul McPherson Of
London tested the swimmers last
Tuesday and 26 of the 28 con-
testants won their Red Cross a-
wards,

At a wedding reception in the
Carousel Hotel, London, the
bride's mother received in
street-length navy crepe gown
with matching lace coat, white
and navy accessories and cor-
sage of white roses. She was
assisted by the groOm's mother
who chose a turquoise lace en-
semble with white and turquoise
accessories and pink rose cor-
sage,
For a honeymoon trip to Nia-
gara Falls, the bride donned an
aqua lace and crepe, two-piece
gown, with matching picture hat,
taupe accessories and white rose
corsage.
Both bride and groom are grad-
uates of the Central Penticostal
College in Saskatoon. They will
live in London until September,
then return to Saskatoon, where
the groom will complete his de-
gree in education at the Univer-
sity of Saskatchewan.

Eight-year-old Esther Eizen-
ga, niece of the bride, made a
charming flower girl in a floor-
length gown of pink bonded lace,
styled Identically like the other
attendants. She carried a small
bouquet of white baby mums.
The best man was Mr. Garth
Stiller of Kenora. The ushers
were Messrs Douglas and Paul
Stiller, Jack and Allan Eizenga.

CORRECTION!
In the last issue of the T-A,
a report of an accident between
Elizabeth Paisley, Ilderton, and
Pete Vanleewen, Atwood, stated
the Paisley car rammed the Van-
leewen vehicle.
The report should have read
that Vanleewen rammed into the
rear of the Paisley vehicle as
the Ilderton lady was stopped
on the highway waiting for traffic
to pass so she could make a
left hand turn,
Lighted candelabra, baskets of
white apd pink gladioli and white
carnations on pews, formed the
setting in the London Gospel
Temple at 4 pm Saturday, July
30, for a double ring ceremony,
when the Rev. A, H, Stiller (fath-
er of the groom) assisted by the
Rev, D. A. Emmons united in
wedlock Miss Margaret Gayle
Eizenga and Mr. Donald Wayne
Stiller.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Meine Eizenga
of Main St., Lucan and the groom
is the son of Rev, and Mrs. A.
H. Stiller of Kenora.
Given in marriage by her fatts-
er the bride chose an A line
floor-length gown of senestafea-
turing an empire waist-line with
two front unpressed pleats,
caught with tiny bows, short bow
trimmed sleeves and a chapel
train cascading from the empire
waist-line. Attached to a pearl
headpiece, a long French silk veil
extended over the train. She car-
ried a cascade of pink roses,
stephanotis and fern,
Mrs, John Boaz, sister of the
bride, of McLean, Virginia, as
matron of honor and Mrs. Mor-
ris Graham, another sister, of
Toronto and Miss Janet Stiller,
sister of the groom of Kenora

seph's Hospital Mr. Stanley was
home for four weeks and had been
out sitting on his verandah Sun-
day.
Mr. Stanley spent a life time
in the hardware business, In
October 1962 he sold his store
to Jim Davis, but remained until
the end of the year. Son of the late
Mr. and Mrs, James Stanley he
began work at the age of 10
with his uncle, the late G. A.
Stanley, in the store destroyed
by fire May 1, 1960. From 1904-
1914 he worked in Taber, Alta.
and Edmonton. When his uncle in
1915 purchased the store of the
late J. R. McComb he returned
to Lucan and in 1929 took over
the store following his uncle's
death.
Besides operating the store,
Mr. Stanley was interested in
all village activities. He was
reeve of Lucan from 1925 to
1929 and served in the council
for 10 years. He was on the hydro
commission for four years and
the H.S. Board for two. He was
president of the Lions Club for
one year and honorary life mem-
ber of the Irving Masonic Lodge.
He was a member of Holy Trin-
ity Church where he served as
warden for four years.
The body rested in the Murdy
Funeral Home where a masonic
service was held W ednesday
evening until Thursday when it
was taken to Holy Trinity Church
for a largely attended funeral
service, conducted by the rector,
the Rev. E. 0. Lancaster, as-
sisted by Mr. Stanley's son-
in-law, Rev. G. A. Moore of
Montreal. Interment was in St.
James Cemetery, Clandeboye.
Pallbearers included Harold
Corbett, Cliff Shipley, Harold
Hodgins, Murray Hodgins, Har-
vey Langford and Richard Gled-
hill.
Mr. Stanley is survived by his
wife, the former Leda Kent, two
daughters, Alice (Mrs. G, A.
Moore) of Montreal and Marie
(Mrs. Alex Colvin) of Windsor,
five grandchildren and one sist-
er Mrs. Etta McFarlane of Lu-

Mrs. Blackwell
dies at age 71
Mrs. Edgar Blackwell 71,
passed away Tuesday, August 2,
in Strathroy Middlesex General
Hospital. The body rested in the
C. Haskett and Son Funeral Home
Lucan, until 2 pm Thursday,
August 4, when the Rev. G.W.
Sach of the Lucan United Church,
conducted funeral services. In-
terment was in Medway cem-
etery.
Pallbearers included Messrs.
Wrn, McRoberts, Glen Kimball,
Fred Trudgeon, Charles Guest,
Arnold Hudson and Hector Rob-
inson,
She is survived by one son
and three daughters, Mervin
Blackwell of Arva, Isabella (Mrs.
Fred Carter) London, Mrs. Jean
Broughton of Dungannon, Ellen
(Mrs. Don Kroeze) of Woodstock,
nine grandchildren and also two
brothers, Joseph and Edward
Plaskett, both of St. Marys.
Daughter of the late Mr. and
,Mrs. John Plaskett, Mrs. Black-
well was the former Victoria
Plaskett. She was born In London
Township but had been living at
B r y an s t on, prior to going to
Strathmere Lodge in 1963,

Prior to her marriage to Don-
ald Stiller, son of the Rev, and
Mrs. A.H. Stiller of Kenora in
the London Gospel Temple Sat-
urday, July 30, Miss Margaret
Eizenga, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Meino Eizenga of Lucan,
was honored with a number of
pre-nuptial events.
Before her graduation from
the Central Pentecostal, Sask-
atoon, in May, Mrs. HenrySchap-
pert and Mrs. David Redden were
co-hostesses at a shower, held
at the home of Miss Joyce Bartos,
one of the college teachers and
Miss Mary Nolan of Saskatoon.
Mrs. Howard Currie of Lucan
held a miscellaneous shower in
her home for the members of
the Lucan Pentecostal Holiness
Church.
Miss Ruth Anne O'Farrell of
London held a miscellaneous and
personal shower for members of
the London Public Utilities,
where the bride-elect is atpres-
ent employed. -4
Miss Beverley Agar, a per-
sonal friend was in charge of a
miscellaneous shower, given by
the members of the L on don
Gospel Temple.
Mr. and Mrs. David Tollefson
of Toronto entertained Miss Eiz-
enga, her fiance, and a number
of friends to a barbecue dinner,
after which they presented her
with a gift.
Following the Friday evening
rehearsal, the groom's mother,
Mrs. A.H. Stiller of Kenora,
entertained the bridal party in
the lounge of the London Gospel
Temple.
Messrs John Damen, William
Damen Jr., Harry Damen, John
Vanderloo and Theo Sentjens at-
tended the tractor demonstration
of the Ontario Farmers' Union
at Queen's Park.
Mr. John Hastings of Alice St.,
has moved to Exeter and Mr.
George Rueder has moved into
his home.
Mr. & Mrs. James Stelzer of
Florida and Miss Marion McCool

after a week's visit with Mr. &
Mrs. Earl Atkinson.
Holiday Sunday guests with Mr.

After six weeks in St. Joseph's
Hospital, Mrs. J, R. Murray is
able to be home.
Mr. & Mrs. Al Bromwich and
family of Willowdale, have re-
turned home after holidaying with
Mrs. H. S. Stanley and other Lu-
can relatives.
Mrs. Alma Price of Lucan and
Mrs. Ruby Brown of Toronto are
spending two weeks in Muskoka.
While Mr. & Mrs. Ed. Morris
of Mt. Forest were on vacation
in Chatham , they left 14-month-
old Susanne with her grandpar-
ents, Mr. & Mrs. Jack Murdy,
Mrs. Violet Sanders and daugh-
ter of Pomona California were
recent guests of their cousin Mrs.
Cecil Robb and Mr. Robb.
Mr. & Mrs. Andy Dougall of
Exeter and Mr. & Mrs. A. M.
Hedden of Lucan spent the holi-
day weekend visiting their cous-
ins, Mr. & Mrs. Elmer Haas in
Buffalo and their daughter and
family in Niagara Falls.
Recent guests with Mrs. Eldon
Hodgson were her brother Mr.
Arthur Culbert of Winnipeg, her
Sister Mrs. Norman Gras of
Newark, N. J. and her son Dr.
Edwin GraS of Annapolis, Mary-

The annual Meadd-Corbett two-
meal picnic was held at the farm
home of Mr. and Mrs. Harold
Corbett Sunday, July 30, with an
attendance of over 70. Guests

Spence Cottage, on Nine Mile
lake at Torrance, Ont.
Mr. Paul Graham has return-
ed home after a two week's visit
with Mr. & Mrs. Robert Demp-
ster at Harrisburg, Penn, and
Mr. & Mrs. Byrnel Graham of
Ft. William.
At 4 am Sunday Mr. Cecil
Armitage was rushed to St. Jo-
seph's Hospital by the Murdy
ambulance.
Dr. & Mrs. E, J. Anderson
of London have moved into the
Cliff Culbert house, Main St.
North and the doctor, opened his
office in the former mad Hatter
Tearoom, August 2,
Julie Ann, small daughter of
Mr. & Mrs. Jim Avery, who was
a patient in St. Joseph's Hos-
pital for two weeks, was brought
home Friday.
Mr. & Mrs. John Park spent
the holiday weekend in Toronto
where they were guests of Mr.
& Mrs. Wm. Butler.

of Detroit were weekend guests
of Mrs. John Casey.
Suzanne Thompson, nine-year-
old daughter of Mr. & Mrs.

Sask., the lifeguard at Kee-MO-
Kee, was a weekend guest with

Walker, Thursday attended the
pot luck supper and evaluation
meeting of the First Girls' camp
held at the home of Mrs. J. K.
Johannesen of London.
Elizabeth Appleton, 12-year-
old daugher of Mr. & Mrs, Har-
per Appleton of London, is spend-
ing July and August with her
grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Harry
Bond.
Mr. Bert Dobbs of Stratford
spent a few days last week with
his sister, Mrs. Wes AtkinSon,
Mrs. Cecil Holmes and daugh-
ter Ruthann, last Monday moved
to Delaware, where Mrs. Holmes
has secured a position at the
Delaware Nursing Home.
Mrs. Kay Egan, Mr. & Mrs.
Cliff Culbert and Wayne of Lucan
and Mrs. Dave Egan of London,
spent the holiday in Dunnville,
where they attended the second
birthday of Frankie Egan, son of
Mr. & Mrs. Frank Egan.

family of Streetsville have re-
turned home after spending a
few days with Mr. & MrS. Ciar
once Lewis.
