Don Pullen, Associate Agri- cultural Representative for Hur- on, reported this week that most crops had been suffering for a want of moisture, although he did state that soil moisture appeared to be more abundant in South Huron than in other areas of the County. The harvesting of oats and barley is progressing at full speed in the county and reports indicate that yields are slightly below average as a result of the prolonged dry spell. However, farmers in this area are much better off than their neighbors in Bruce and Grey County. Reports indicate many farmers in those counties are not even harvesting their crops be- cause it is not worth their effort. pastures in this area have been badly affected and many farmers have had to increase supple- mental feeding in order to main- tain milk flow. While this year's hay crop was above average, many farmers still won't have enough for the winter months because they have to use it already. Bean growers are still uncer- tain as to the condition of their crops. While many early blos- soms dropped off due to the drought and heat conditions, some have experienced a second growth and could still make a recovery. 7wiedee9ate By MRS. ROBERT RUNDLE.
