Mrs. Barbara Carter assumed
her new duties as postmistress
at Clandeboye on July 14, taking
over from her father, Maurice
Simpson. This will be the third
generation of the family to as-
sume responsibility of the rural
post office. Mr. Simpson took
over from his mother, Mrs. John
L. Simpson in March, 1938.
Twenty-eight residents re-
ceive their mail at the post
office and 110 others are ser-
viced by rural mail carrier.
Arnold Blake presently delivers
to the rural boxes and has been
preceded by Leslie Sam Collins,
Thomas Lewis and Frank Kent.

TEACHER'S HUSBAND DIES
William Henry Dundas, 76, died
suddenly of a heart condition
Monday, July 18 in Metropolitan
Hospital, Windsor, having been
hospitalized since the previous
Saturday morning.
Son of the late Joseph R and
Elizabeth Dundas he was born
in Wisconsin and when 12 years
of age came to Canada and lived
on a farm at Lindsay. Fifty years
ago he moved to Con. 3 McGil-
livray Township. Twelve years
ago he moved to Waterloo and in
1954 went to Windsor where he
was a tool and die maker in Wind-
sor and Detroit.
He married Miss Alma Mun-
roe January 2, 1936 in Fingal
Presbyterian Church. She had
taught for 10 years in Clande-
boye school and was a former
president of Clandeboye WI.
Besides his wife the deceased
is survived by two brothers,
Edward J. of Lake City, Mich.
and Steven, Crediton; five sist-
ers, Mrs. Bruce (Edith) Mc-
Niven, Lindsay; Mrs. William
(Lottie) Haskett, Denfield; Mrs.
Roy (Della) Hamilton, Lucan;
Mrs. Earl (Stella) Dixon, Cen-
tralia, and Mrs. Lester (Violet)
Howland, Detroit.
Funeral services were held
at the Morris funeral home Wind-
sor, Monday evening conducted
by Rev. William Fitch of the
Pentecostal Church, Windsor,
assisted by Rev. Charles Duggan,
BD of St. Andrew's Presbyterian
church, Mrs. William Fitch sang
a solo. The body was brought to
the Murdy funeral home, Lucan,
where funeral service was con-
ducted by Rev. William Fitch,
Windsor assisted by Rev. James
Beam, Welland, on Wednesday
July 20. Mrs. William Fitch sang
two solos at the service. Inter-
ment was in the family plot at
Fingal cemetery.
Pallbearers were Messrs
Murray Carter, Andy Thompson,
Maurice Simpson, Herbert Jack-
son, (Fingal), Lloyd Dennet t,
(Dutton) and Edward Dundas,
Lake City, Mich.
A Masonic service was held
in the funeral home Tuesday
evening under the auspices of
Irving Lodge AF&AM, Lucan.

Commander Clifford W. Hicks,
Squadron Leader of 440 — Ot-
tawa Beavers — son of Mrs.
and the late Byron E. Hicks,
Fairfield, Ontario — shot down
leading his men over enemy
territory, August 8, 1944, dur-
ing the battle of Caen and Fa-
laise. His body rests in the
Cemetery at "Bretteville Sur
Laize" with our boys from
Canada.
