Road and Elimville churches on
Sunday August 7 and 28 while
Rev, Stewart Miner is on holi-
days. There will be no Sunday
School or church services on
August 14 and 21.
Quite a number from this com-
munity attended the chicken bar-
becue held at Kirkton Thursday
evening. It was sponsored by the
K irkton-Woodliam Farmer's
Club.

Fifty Years ago, June 20,1916,
Gordon Clifford Heywood and Ev-
elyn Bedford, daughter of Mr,
and Mrs, George Bedford, were
married by Rev J, W. Baird of
James Street Methodist Church.
Following the ceremony they
Were driven to London where
they took the "electric car" to
Port Stanley to spend their ho-
neymoon.
Saturday they marked the fif-
tieth anniversary of their mar-
riage by a family gathering at
Usborne Township Hall, Elim-
ville. After a smorgasbord din-
ner they spent the evening at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Eldon
Heywood, Main Street S. town.
The family presented the cele-
brants with a purse of money
as did the grandchildren.
Their neighbours of the Whil-
smith Apts and Mr. and Mrs.
Art Whilsmith and family gath-
ered last Wednesday and held
a garden party. Mr. and Mrs.
Heywood were presented with a
china tea service in gold and
white.
Mr. and Mrs. Heywood farmed
on the Heywood farm con. 3
Usborne until retiring in 1960
and taking up residence in Exe-
ter.
They have six sons; Dalton,
RR 1 Putnam; Eldon, and La-
verne of Exeter, Jack, Raymond
and Bev of London, also 28
grandchildren and 14 great
grandchildren.
Many floral gifts and cards
were received including a scroll
of congratulations from the On-
tario Government with special
congratulations from Hon. C.S
MacNaughton and Mrs. Mac-
Naughton.

Given in marriage by her fath-
er the bride wore a formal A-
line gown of white silk faille
featuring a high waistline and
chapel train, both trimmed with
guipure lace appliques. The same
appliques enhanced the wedding
ring headpiece which held her silk
illusion shoulder-length veil. She
carried orchids, stephanotis and
ivy.

sleeveless gown of deep sea green
peau de sole. An aqua chiffon
gathered overskirt extended from
the empire waist-line. She car-

Grant Goodale, Dashwood, was
best man and J. A. Turner, Mani-
toba and J. P. Myronuk, Texas,
ushered guests.
A reception was held at Dash-
wood Community Centre where
the bride's mother received
guests in a silk champagne dress
with brown accents and orchid
corsage. The groom's sister,
Mrs. Eveleigh, wore a yellow
ensemble with corsage of bronze
mums.
For travelling to the Pocono
Mts, Penn., the bride changed to
a two-piece pink silk ensemble
with pink and white accessories
and an orchid corsage.
The couple will reside in Scar-
borough.

Rev. & Mrs. Howard Kerr and
David returned to their home at
Armstrong, B.C. after holidaying
with Mrs. Kerr's parents, Mr.
& Mrs. H. H. G. Strang and other
relatives in the community also

S. Kerr at Embro and relatives
in Toronto. They have been sta-

Mrs. Vernon Heywood will arrive
from Halifax Saturday for a

County's new home economist
taking over from Mrs. Marie
Hunt, the former Marie Hodgson
of Exeter. Mrs. Hunt will teach
in Kitchener.

A reception was held at the
bride's home following the cere-
mony. For a wedding trip to
Northern Ontario the bride
changed to a pastel pink linen
suit with navy blue accessories
and gardenia corsage.
Mr. and Mrs. MacVoy will
reside in London. The bride is
a graduate of St. Joseph's School
of Nursing, London.
